Extreme Networks Resident Engineer Role:

The Extreme Networks Resident Engineer (RE) will work within a customer team of highly skilled and experienced engineers to support a full-time resident engineer position for NASCAR, based out of either Charlotte, NC or Daytona Beach, FL. The position is a hybrid role supporting the customer in a remote-office, onsite office and supporting NASCAR events onsite throughout its various Track Properties (NASCAR Owned) during the NASCAR season. This RE role is a senior position that requires a broad range of technical, troubleshooting, and planning, along with excellent customer communication skills. The RE is considered a “trusted advisor” for the customer during the engagement. The RE’s role is to provide a high-quality implementation of all areas of the Extreme Network product suites, by ensuring that all networking implementations meet the customer’s functional requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide full-time project support for NASCAR’s Extreme wired and wireless networks in a virtual and in-person capacity as needed.
  • Provide full-time event support at each NASCAR-Owned Track throughout the NASCAR racing season and playoffs
  • Perform annual Extreme Validated Configuration (EVC) health checks at each NASCAR Track running the Extreme wired and wireless network solution
  • Work closely with the Premier Stadium team on routine maintenance and updates per EVC guidance
  • Follow Extreme Professional Services PDIO (Plan/Design/Implement/Operate) implementation methodology
  • Plans to include High-Level Architecture Diagrams, Functional Capabilities, highlight customer prerequisites, configurations, and track deliverable dates and timelines for “Go Live” for solution. Define UAT, and Functional Validation criteria within a MOP (Method of Procedure) document.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Extreme-related project documentation.
  • Responsible as technical lead and trusted advisor for administration and customer implementations.
  • Responsible as a liaison between the Account team, Premier Support Team, PLM, Engineering, GTAC (as required), and customer for all support operations.
  • Work with Extreme partners and sales staff to implement Extreme solutions and provide knowledge transfer as required for the defined solution.
  • Must maintain excellent knowledge of all Extreme product suites deployed by NASCAR: Extreme Cloud IQ- Controller including Wi-Fi deployments of over 500 Access Points, Extreme Cloud IQ – Site Engine, switching and executing API technology.
  • Situational awareness and ability to proactively escalate any customer issues to GTAC, Account Team and Management in a timely and cohesive manner.

Requirements:

  • Expert in networking technologies with industry knowledge and experience. (6 or more years experience)
  • Thorough knowledge and proven experience with implementation and maintenance of the Extreme solutions
  • Thorough understanding of wireless and wired LAN configurations and deployments
  • 30-40% Travel Requirement to NASCAR-owned tracks to support weekend events onsite throughout NASCAR season
  • Must have strong skills in troubleshooting and problem resolution in a network environment. (including use of PCAP, Wireshark, and some wireless RF Analysis tools such as Ekahau, Hamina, AirCheck preferred)
  • Keen ability to understand and analyze customer requirements and position the Extreme solution effectively.
  • Ability to effectively implement Extreme products and solutions in a mission-critical environment within a scheduled downtime or with no downtime.
  • Excellent inter-personal, technical presentation and communications skills.
  • Proven team player.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Desired Skills / Experience:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Relevant certifications would include: CWNE, CWTS/CWNA, CCNA, CCIE, etc.
  • Experience supporting high-density Wi-Fi Networks
  • Experience supporting outdoor networks.
  • Desired candidate has experience within large public venues such as Stadiums, Arenas, Convention Centers, Airports, etc
