How You’ll Make an Impact:

This position is a Senior Principal Software Engineer role in the new live orchestration development team, which will be charged with designing, building, and supporting resilient tools enabling automated and manual live stream management at scale with a minimal operational footprint. You will set technical direction, strategy, and drive technology adoption within the live stream orchestration domain.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and collaborate in a small, productive live orchestration development team as well as the larger engineering organization
  • Lead designs of robust, well-architected solutions and iterative builds while adhering to CI/CD best practices
  • Operate effectively in multi-departmental projects or when interfacing with external parties
  • Build sensible, data-driven software application systems based on your ability to understand business scenarios
  • Serve as a stabilizing presence during transitions and chaotic conditions; provide clear direction and constructive guidance
  • Take responsibility for quality delivery – keep an eye on how launches & build outs are progressing, and steer direction when needed
  • Architect, drive implementation of, and be responsible for tools to orchestrate live stream resource scheduling, configuration, and monitoring
  • Design, build, and support live stream operations tools as well as automation tools with scalability and resiliency in mind
  • Understand and manage a multiplicity of integrations, both inbound and outbound, as well as the wider live ecosystem in which they exist
  • Participate in architectural reviews

What You’ll Need:

  • Minimum Bachelor level degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in software systems lifecycles, at least 5 of which should be in an architectural role
  • Experience with Java/J2EE, XML, JSON Messaging, REST APIs and Relational databases
  • Experience with AWS Architecture (Lambda, SNS/SQS Messaging, API gateway, S3, ECS)
  • Experience working with Continuous Integration and Deployment tools - e.g., Maven, Jenkins 2, Ansible, GITHUB, Kubernetes, Rancher, Docker
  • Experience in database design and writing SQL queries
  • Ability to articulate a plan for and implement improving changes on a production system while in parallel adding new features towards the team’s initiatives
  • Experience working in a 24x7, critical operations environment
  • Experience and proven track record of architecting, delivering, updating and maintaining stable, resilient production software at scale
  • Experience in broadcasting, streaming services and/or media engineering; direct experience with live orchestration a plus
  • Good understanding of networking including HTTP protocol, routing, and firewall operations
  • Experience with data modeling and simplifying data across multiple sources into a normalized format for driving distinct user experiences
  • Commitment to “internal client” and customer service principles
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under shifting deadlines
  • Dedication to thorough testing and creating high quality software

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $157,300 to $200,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
