The Senior Project Manager position is integral to the successful management and implementation of projects within the International Center for Genetic Disease (iCGD) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS). This exceptional opportunity offers the chance to work at the forefront of international genomic medicine efforts. The Senior Project Manager will work directly with various departments at BWH, HMS, other HMS-affiliated hospitals, MGB's faculty, staff members, external hospital affiliates, and senior international dignitaries.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of various projects of the International Center for Genetic Disease (iCGD). This Center is dedicated to advancing genomic medicine globally through partnerships with governments, academic institutions, and industry. As a research hub, iCGD focuses on the analysis of patients and healthy subjects from different parts of the world for research into the causes and consequences, prevention, and treatment of genetic diseases.

The candidate is expected to embody a character conducive to navigating and valuing the multifaceted cultural landscapes encountered in this role. Mastery in project management—encompassing scope management, execution, monitoring, and control of deliverables—is paramount. Additionally, a thorough understanding of hospital operations within research or clinical divisions is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational and team-building prowess, coupled with a zeal to collaborate with a team of driven scientists and administrative professionals. The position oversees a large budget, necessitating a clear grasp of federal, divisional, and hospital policies. A high degree of initiative, independent judgment, utmost discretion, and professional demeanor are indispensable attributes for this role.

The iCGD brings together world-class clinicians and scientists and an unmatched dedication to the multidisciplinary research, cutting-edge technology, and innovated methods. This position will manage the implementation of research, education, and clinical programs to build sustainable capacity in genomic medicine and in genetic research, with the aim of contributing to improved public health.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing managerial, logistical, and administrative direction.
  • Responsible for managing projects on behalf of the Director and other leadership staff.
  • Write, develop, and oversee standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee iCGD website (working with the website development company), Cloud accounts and GitHub repositories.
  • Determine staffing needs, interface with HR, and participate in hiring decisions.
  • Manage regulatory and compliance with IRB protocols.
  • Supervise staff (e.g., project coordinators, data managers, research assistants) in attaining departmental and institutional required competencies, training, and certifications.
  • Promote forums for communication of information and opportunities for team discussion and problem-solving by running weekly staff meeting and other meetings as needed. Provide ongoing assistance to staff in their daily work related to prioritizing projects and tasks.
  • Serve as a liaison between financial management team and research team regarding status and timelines of projects and their associated funds.
  • This role will be responsible for course and lecture series management. Such courses and lecture series aim to train physicians, scientists, and genetic counselors to address genetic and genomic issues. The Course Manager is the point of contact for keynote speakers, lecturers and participants. This role will engage with multi-cultural groups globally. 
  • Monitor technical issues and take immediate action when required.
  • Organize online or in-person meetings with collaborators and visiting delegations.
  • Oversee the schedule of the iCGD's director or supervise the assistant tasked with this duty.
  • Should the candidate be interested, the role provides an opportunity to offer research expertise, engage in problem-solving, serve as the subject matter expert in designated situations, and contribute directly to scientific analysis, abstract submissions, and manuscript development.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master's with 3+ years of related experience, or BS with 5+ years of related experience. Familiarity with sequencing technologies and applications is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Project Management.
  • Having a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience with oversight of budgets.
  • Experience with IRB and grant application process.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with interdisciplinary teams to effectively manage and deliver on project goals.
  • Familiarity with Cloud environments is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead discussions/meetings and obtain cooperation and support from team.
