Job Description

Far View Lodge is the only lodging inside of Mesa Verde National Park and is located 15 miles from the park entrance. The traditional Western décor of the lobby and dining room, fantastic views, warm hospitality and superb dining welcome you for an unforgettable vacation. The lodge comprises of 150 rooms in 2 room types, Kiva and Kiva Deluxe View.

The lodge was designed to reflect the true essence of Mesa Verde, with solitude all around you and freedom from the distraction of in-room TVs or cell phone service but plenty of wildlife watching. 

Front Desk Supervisor oversees the Lodge Front Desk operations; supporting and training all Front Desk Staff. They ensure all preparations are being completed in advance for the day’s arrivals and groups, ensuring all Front Desk Staff are on task for delivering superior guest service. 

COMPENSATION: The hourly rate for this position ranges from $18.00 to $18.25, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and Aramark reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time AND FOR ANY REASON, including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO for reasons related to individual performance, Aramark or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs and understands all aspects of Front Desk Staff duties
  • Maintains training records and on-boarding tools for all Front Desk Staff
  • Oversee the Lodge Front Desk
  • Maintains consistency with Front Desk operations and procedures
  • Updates SOPs when necessary to add new duties or procedures
  • Partner with Group Coordinator to be liaison for our tour groups
  • Involved in pertinent conferences with Accounting, Groups, Reservations and Rates & Inventory Departments to ensure smooth operation
  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Tours, Retail, Laundry and Maintenance as needed
  • Train Front Desk Staff on all aspects of the role - helping to develop a team of guest service focused professionals
  • Support the Front Desk Staff in the day to day operations of the Lodge – ensuring all opening and closing tasks are completed
  • Assist Management with recruiting of Front Desk Employees
  • Hold pre-shift meetings to ensure that the Front Desk team are aware of the day’s arrivals, departures, visiting VIPs, guest service of the day, Tour schedules and any other miscellaneous information to ensure successful operations
  • Ensure Front Desk Staff remain active during down time by preparing for upcoming arrivals, tours and completing other relevant projects
  • Encourage and support Front Desk Staff in selling tours and activities 
  • Respond directly to all guest complaints and ensure they are resolved efficiently and immediately in a professional manner which does not negatively impact on the reputation of Far View Lodge & Aramark – Mesa Verde
  • Ensure accurate and correct billing
  • Audit working banks to ensure accuracy and accountability
  • Run all supporting Property Management System reports which assist in the efficient running of the resort including arrival and departure reports, along with other relevant reports
  • Assist Group Department, Group Coordinator and other relevant parties with all Tour Groups – ensuring all pre-arrival preparations have been completed. Go above & beyond to ensure Tour Groups and all guests have an enjoyable stay
  • Maintain and balance room inventory and communicate any discrepancies or concerns to all departments

  • Should be highly knowledgeable about Mesa Verde and the surrounding areas; acting as a concierge resource for all guests. This includes but is not limited to: retail, food & beverage opening hours and services, tours and activities and surrounding area amenities and activities 
  • Must be flexible – willing to work a rotational schedule with rotational days off that may include weekends and holidays
  • Must be well groomed and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Must perform all miscellaneous duties assigned by upper management
  • Share innovative ideas to improve efficiency and operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must have a 1-2 years of supervisory experience in the hospitality or hotel industry
  • Must be computer literate in MS Office programs, with previous knowledge of Property Management Systems 
  • Must have outstanding guest service skills 
  • Working knowledge & experience of hospitality field is preferred
  • Willingness to gain a good understanding of Mesa Verde and the surrounding area, becoming fully knowledgeable on all activities and amenities offered
  • Must be able to identify developments in department and find solutions to improve operation

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).
