The role of an IT Systems & Infrastructure Engineer is critical in ensuring the smooth functioning and optimization of a company's IT infrastructure. Here is a brief overview of the responsibilities and skills typically associated with this role:

Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure Design and Maintenance:
• Design, implement, and manage the company's IT infrastructure.
• Ensure the availability, performance, and security of systems and networks.
• System Administration:
• Administer servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
• Network Management:
• Design, implement, and manage network architecture, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Troubleshoot network issues and optimize network performance.
• Security:
• Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Conduct regular security audits and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Backup and Recovery:
• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for critical systems and data.
• Test and verify backups to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Collaboration:
• Collaborate with other IT professionals, such as developers and support teams, to ensure seamless integration of systems and applications.
• Technical Support:
• Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues.
• Participate in the resolution of escalated support tickets.
• Documentation:
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
• Capacity Planning:
• Monitor and analyze system performance and plan for capacity upgrades as needed.
• Emerging Technologies:
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, making recommendations for their implementation.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Proficiency:
• Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.).
• Proficiency in network protocols, architecture, and security.
• Server Administration:
• Experience in server installation, configuration, and maintenance.
• Networking:
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
• Familiarity with firewall and VPN configurations.
• Security:
• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience with implementing security measures.
• Problem-Solving:
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Communication:
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Team Collaboration:
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Willingness to share knowledge and mentor junior team members.
• Certifications:
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate can be beneficial.
