Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to lead our Traffic Management and Operations (TMC) practice as a Division Manager. In coordination with the Sector Managers, and Regional Business Development and Sales Directors, and local team, the Division Manager will be responsible for managing and growing Atkins’ TMC business with clients across the US. This energetic leader will work closely with the business unit leadership and local teams to set and implement business strategy, client development, along with staff development.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Be a dedicated business builder who will utilize existing relationships to identify and pursue business opportunities as well as recruit top technical staff.
  • Possess a background in winning and serving clients in transportation operations and incident management, a sound technical background, excellent communication and organizational skills and thorough knowledge and understanding of Traffic Management Center floor room operations.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, both public and private, as well as representatives of local, state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Work with leadership to promote excellence, provide leadership and mentoring while driving the strategic plan for the practice.
  • Participate in strategic planning for the practice to maximize profitability, marketing capabilities, operational efficiencies, and quality.

Job Duties:

  • Leverage existing and develop new state DOT relationships to identify and pursue business opportunities.
  • Play a key role leading pursuits and writing proposals for TMC pursuits.
  • Help communicate and support other sectors and divisions within the business unit across the US to ensure one voice with each state DOT team.
  • Engage with personnel by reviewing and evaluating workload, resource planning, project performance, and business development opportunities.
  • Assists project staff in developing work plans; reviews and approves schedules, budgets, contract milestone dates, and work products.
  • Oversees financial performance of projects; assists project staff in identifying potential problems to ensure remedial actions are promptly taken to avoid financial losses and client dissatisfaction.
  • Serve as a manager and/or project manager for projects; provide technical oversight.
  • Ensure QA/QC procedures are being implemented.

What will you contribute?

  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in the transportation operations and incident management industry
  • Extensive experience leading transportation management centers for several state DOTs.
  • P.E. license at minimum required and preferred candidate would have other state PE licenses across the US.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, public speaking and persuasive ability.
  • Very strong financial management, team management, and leadership skills.
  • Bachelors or master’s degree in engineering.
  • Existing relationships with state DOTs in the transportation operations and incident management industry.
