This is a part-time position anticipated to work 29 hours per week. This is a para-professional healthcare support position responsible for serving clients in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) in accordance with State and Federal regulations (DHM 150-24). Services include eligibility determination, anthropometrics and hemoglobin testing, and issuance of program benefits. This position also schedules client appointments, assists clients with completion of nutrition questionnaires, and provides low risk second nutrition education contacts (newsletters). The incumbent is at risk for exposure to blood-borne and airborne pathogens and will be immunized in accordance with DOH Immunization Recommendations for Health Care Workers and is required to have an annual assessment for TB, which may include a tuberculin skin test. This employee is responsible for WIC data sets security. Contributes to the organization’s culture of performance excellence by actively seeking to improve personal and organizational performance through measurement, analysis, knowledge management, and processes improvements and participation in performance management committees, councils, and/or workgroups. Continuously demonstrates the Department’s ICARE values. This position reports to the Senior Clerical Supervisor-SES.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Performs client eligibility process for income, address, physical presense, and identification. 

Performs anthropometric measurements (height, weight, length) and hemoglobin testing as required for client eligibility determination.

Issues program benefits (food package) and client ID/VOC cards.

Assists with completion of client nutrition questionnaire and documents responses in the FL-WiSE data system as needed. 

Schedules client appointments in the FL-WiSE data system.

Provides second nutrition education contacts for low-risk WIC participants based on newsletter and lesson plan.

Provides voter registration services in compliance with WIC guidelines. Assists with maintenance inventories as assigned, including DVD's, book's, and/or OCO equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to provide customer service consistent with WIC program regulations.

Ability to provide basic nutrition lesson as assigned (script provided).

Ability to perform anthropometric (length, height, weight) measurements.

Ability to perform hemoglobin testing.

Competent keyboard skills.

Ability to learn FL-WiSE data system.

Ability to learn DOH software applications.

Ability to use calculator.

Ability to maintain client confidentiality.

Ability to interact professionally with the public.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. 

Bilingual in writing and orally in English and Spanish.

Work in Naples and Immokalee to cover needs of WIC program. 

Emergency Duty: Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
