RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to make decisions, plan, manage tasks, and direct resources to to operate and maintain the FISMA High system computers and networks
  • Maintaining information assurance in compliance to DOC and NOAA IT Security policies and maintaining control implementation and documentation in accordance with NIST 800-53 r5 high-impact security controls.
  • Determines security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates.
  • Plans security systems by evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices; designs public key infrastructures (PKIs), including use of certification authorities (CAs) and digital signatures as well as hardware and software; adhering to industry standards.
  • Maintains security security plan by monitoring and ensuring compliance to standards, policies, and procedures; developing and conducting training programs.
  • Maintain security standards of the information systems by monitoring the IT environment; identifying security and operational gaps; evaluating and implementing enhancements.
  • Prepares system security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8 - 10 years management complex large scale technology programs
  • BA/BS Degree
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Public Truat

CERTIFICATIONS

Should possess and maintain one or more of the following technical certifications or equivalent industry certifications.

  • ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • ISC2 Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP) - Highly Desireable
  • ISC2 Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • ISACA Certified Information System Manager (CISM)
  • ISACA Certified Information System Auditor (CISA)
  • GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC)
  • EC-Council Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO)
  • Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr)
  • Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE)
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Security
  • Axelos ITIL Master
  • Axelos ITIL Strategic Leader (SL)

Overview

We are seeking a IT Operations Manager to join our team supporting NOAA Cyber Security Center (NCSC) Enterprise Security Center (ESOC) in Silver Spring, MD. / Fairmont, WV.

The NCSC provides comprehensive cyber security services to the NOAA and its partners’ IT enterprise as a shared service. As part of NOAA’s Cyber Security Division NCSC provides services to achieve NOAA’s and other stakeholders cybersecurity mission: to protect and defend the use of cyberspace from cyber-attacks, and to protect NOAA information and information systems from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction.
