No matter their individual role, each of our employees plays a vital part in bringing SiriusXM’s vision to life every day.

Pandora, a subsidiary of SiriusXM, is the largest ad-supported audio entertainment streaming service in the U.S. Pandora provides consumers with a uniquely-personalized music and podcast listening experience with its proprietary Music Genome Project® and Podcast Genome Project® technology. Pandora is available through its mobile app, the web, and integrations with more than 2,000 connected products.

How you’ll make an impact:

As a Pandora Listener Experience designer, you will collaborate with an inspiring team of designers and cross-functional partners to craft the immersive, uniquely-Pandora in-app audio experience loved by tens of millions of passionate listeners. You will be challenged to innovate and differentiate our services within the competitive streaming market, address our listeners’ wide range of “audio jobs to be done”, and impact SiriusXM + Pandora’s core business metrics.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop a nuanced understanding of Pandora’s business goals as well as the needs and perspectives of our listeners.
  • Translate those goals and needs into a creative vision, hypotheses, and experiments – realized by elegant, actionable, and effective design solutions via sketches, wireframes, user flows, prototypes, visual mocks, and interaction specs.
  • Consider the full ecosystem of our listener experience across mobile (the primary focus of our work), web, TV, and other devices.
  • Collaborate with org-wide cross-functional partners to define, build a shared understanding around, implement, and measure the impact of our designs.
  • Be a great design team member – we make each other better designers by providing and being receptive to feedback, asking the right questions, and recognizing we each bring unique and valuable perspectives to the team.
  • Shape the product design process – we constantly reflect upon the way we work and rely on our designers to help us iterate and improve.
  • Evangelize user-centered design across the company.
  • Share your passions (music or otherwise) with your teammates. It’s certainly not a requirement to be obsessed with music but many of us are and we love beginning meetings with “walk-up songs” and discussing our favorite new releases. Others on the team regularly share their love of video games, the outdoors, local food scenes, and more.
  • Note that this role does not have any official supervisory responsibilities but there are always opportunities to mentor other designers. Our team supports growth paths that lead toward management positions or continued individual contributor work and we recognize the importance of both.

What you’ll need:

  • Note that aside from the legal right to work these are not hard requirements and you don’t need to meet 100% of them to be considered. We specifically do not require a degree because we know that good designers can come from anywhere with the right amount of drive and experience. If you think you would be a good fit, we’d love to see your application.
  • 6+ years of experience in product design and development, preferably leading consumer-facing mobile design experiences – demonstrable via design portfolio, use cases, in-market products, etc. Portfolios should highlight challenges you faced, how you collaborated with others, what you learned, and the personal/business/end-user impact of your work.
  • A user-centered approach to problem solving that leverages research, analytics, and empathy combined with strong design intuition and best practices.
  • An understanding of today’s common design patterns (across mobile, web, desktop) and an awareness of when it’s appropriate (or not) to deviate from them.
  • Demonstrated commitment to growth and learning professionally and personally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to tailor communications to your audience.
  • Habit of sharing your work at all stages to leverage the expertise of those around you.
  • Patience, kindness, accountability, and curiosity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Design/Strategy, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), or other related design-focused degree path preferred.
  • Expert-level skills with Figma and/or other design tools (InVision, Adobe XD, Sketch, Framer, UXPin, etc.).
  • Experience with Jira and/or other project management tools (Hive, Targetprocess, Clarity PPM, Pivotal Tracker, etc.).
  • Fluency with presentation software such as Google Slides or PowerPoint.
  • Although no coding is required for this role, you must have a solid understanding of general development processes, technologies, and frameworks (i.e., presentation layer coding, iOS, Android, etc.).
  • Experience with component-based Design Systems.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
