RNDC is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and professional Transportation Manager to join our growing Oregon Operations team. The Transportation Manager oversees and supervises all activities of the transportation/delivery department based out of our Portland Oregon Warehouse by performing the following duties. 

In this role, you will

  • Provides the appropriate staffing, training, certification, safety supervision and motivation to the delivery personnel. Includes hiring, career development, disciplining, and overseeing the company’s published policies and procedures.
  • Maintains all company commitments to customer service through timely and efficient deliveries in accord with all state and federal regulations. Supervises all aspects of the product delivery operation and customer relations including the security of products during the process of delivery.
  • Adheres to customer credit restrictions and requirements during delivery, verifying all drivers meet requirements for accuracy, and accountability.
  • Works cooperatively with sales departments to provide prompt, accurate product deliveries to customers in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintains all facets of the delivery process in keeping with applicable requirements for safety and documentation ensuring drivers possess safe driving records, are properly licensed, comply with DOT requirements.
  • Coordinates delivery activity following scheduling guidelines established within the routing system to ensure deliveries are completed in an economic, efficient manner and make good utilization of time with the drivers returning to the warehouse on schedule.
  • Ensures deliveries are conducted in compliance with federal, state, local and insurance regulations concerning safety and the handling of alcoholic beverages. Guarantees corporate documentation procedures are consistently followed to ensure accurate entry of quantities of product returned to the warehouse for inventory control purposes.
  • Responsible for the safe, cost effective operations of all delivery vehicles ensuring all delivery vehicles are consistently neat, clean, in proper working condition, up to date on all routine maintenance and are readily available for use. Directly supervises the care and maintenance of all delivery trucks and vehicles, including communications systems, ensuring their consistent compliance with federal, state, county, and city inspections and licensing regulations.
  • Manages three subordinate Supervisors who supervise a total of 40 employees in the Transportation department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's SOP’s, policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

What you bring to RNDC

  • Three or more years of related Transportation Management experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Requires a valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.

  • Adheres to customer credit restrictions and requirements during the course of receiving their deliveries verifying that ALL drivers meet requirements for accuracy, and accountability.
  • Works cooperatively with sales departments to provide prompt, accurate, product deliveries to customers in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintains all facets of the delivery process in keeping with applicable requirements for safety and documentation ensuring drivers possess safe driving records, are properly licensed and comply in all respects with DOT requirements and coordinates delivery activity following scheduling guidelines established by the Roadnet System ensuring that deliveries are conducted in an economic, efficient manner and make good utilization of time with the drivers returning to the warehouse on schedule.
  • Ensures that deliveries are conducted in compliance with federal, state, local and insurance regulations concerning safety and the handling of alcoholic beverages and guarantees corporate documentation procedures are consistently followed to ensure accurate entry of quantities of product returned to the warehouse for inventory control purposes.
  • Responsible for the safe, cost effective operations of all delivery vehicles ensuring that all delivery vehicles are consistently neat and clean, in proper working condition, and that they are readily available for use. Directly supervises the care and maintenance of all delivery trucks and vehicles, including communications systems, ensuring their consistent compliance with federal, state, county, and city inspections and licensing regulations.
  • Manages three to five subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 40+ employees in Transportation. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises one non-supervisory employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

What you bring to RNDC

  • Associates degree from a two year college or technical school preferred.
  • Three or more years related experience, of which two to three years previous transportation and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires a current state driver's license
  • Ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) License, as required by the state (i.e. TABC License – Texas)
