Seeking a creative and skilled developer to help us develop cutting-edge virtual reality programs that will be distributed broadly alongside established industry partners. You will be working on exciting projects that combine sports, science, and technology, offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of sports performance and research. Your primary focus will be on generating targeted programs to assess and train sensorimotor function among athletes who may be at risk of or recovering from sports related injuries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain virtual reality applications using Unity and/or Unreal Engine for various research projects and training programs.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, sports scientists, and other stakeholders to translate complex concepts into immersive and intuitive VR experiences.
  • Optimize VR software to ensure smooth performance on various hardware.
  • Quickly troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and bugs.
  • Keep up-to-date with new VR trends, technologies, and best practices.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Consults with appropriate staff to develop requirements and specifications for applications.
  • Implements developed applications and provides customer support of applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six years of information technology experience OR a bachelor's degree and four years of information technology experience.
  • Positions in this classification may require a knowledge of one or more programming languages and/or a knowledge of an application and application tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Unity3D and/or Unreal Engine, with a strong understanding of its related scripting languages.
  • Proven experience in VR development, with a portfolio showcasing completed projects.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and design software (e.g., Blender, 3DS Max, Maya).
  • Knowledge of C# and/or C++ programming languages.
  • Good understanding of game physics and animation techniques.
  • Proficiency in version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a knack for complex troubleshooting.• Experience in developing VR applications for sports training or performance enhancement.
  • Knowledge of human physiology, perception, kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with VR hardware such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, or similar.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion for sports, technology and solving sports related healthcare issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a high degree of creativity and innovation.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
