About the Office:

The Mayor’s Office of Communications leads the effort to inform, update, and engage New Yorkers about Mayor Eric Adams’ commitments to fighting inequality, driving down crime, improving our economy and making New York City government an efficient place that Gets Stuff Done for New Yorkers.

About the Role:

Working in the NYC Mayor’s Office at City Hall under the Director of Digital Content, the E-mail & Direct Messaging Lead will lead the creation and development of content for direct messaging platforms, including e-mail, text messaging and more, using a variety of software tools.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Write engaging content, condense press releases into easily digestible, colloquial language;
  • Work with a team of creators to adapt content for appropriate direct messaging mediums;
  • Liaise with different department heads and policy-makers for information and messaging;
  • Develop long- and short-term strategy for direct messaging;
  • Identify opportunities to communicate directly to New Yorkers about city government activity;
  • Report on constituent comments to high-profile stakeholders;
  • Present content analytics to high-profile stakeholders;
  • Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
