That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?

In short, as an Assistant Director of Inventory Operations Process Management you and your team drive continuous improvement by defining and owning all phases of the process and product life cycle from ideation through implementation and sustainment. You will partner with cross-functional teams to transform our enterprise processes and systems through the identification and valuation of opportunities and problems, determining root causes, identifying gaps and countermeasures. You will lead the implementation of process and product solutions that drive strategic initiatives for our Inventory teams. All along the way you’re communicating and aligning product development with business stakeholders and ensuring the strategy and roadmaps align with the organization’s goals. 

In long, our Inventory Operations Process Management team is responsible for: 

  • Continuous improvement vision and ownership of the process and project life cycle including taking projects from ideation and innovation; performing gap analysis, leading project valuation, defining business requirements, determining appropriate solution and approach, launch plan creation, product adoption assessments, and process sustainability. 
  • Big picture thinking, understanding, and planning for small projects that build upon each other to support long-term strategic vision.
  • Proposing roadmap strategies, tradeoff/risk assessments, and owning project definition. 
  • Facilitating and leading discussions with business leaders, analytic partners, and vendors to define business requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure efforts are focused on critical needs. 
  • Identifying improvement opportunities, researching issues, performing root cause analysis, compiling and analyzing qualitative and quantitative information to conclude and communicate well-reasoned decisions.
  • Establishing schedules, guidelines, and procedures and determining the most effective way to deliver a complete solution to an identified problem.
  • Explore and propose different solutions for the same problem, situation, or workflow using your knowledge of continuous improvement tools and business requirements.
  • Analyzing whether to buy, build, or partner to complete the solution to address root causes.
  • Organizing multiple projects at one time that span multiple business units. 
  • Leading a team of Process Analysts and/or Product Analysts to improve operational efficiencies and product enhancements.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills. The ability to determine which tools to use to address the identified root cause and the flexibility and creativity to modify your tools or solution to suit the specific situation, when appropriate.
  • Plays well with others. You will be working in a high-functioning team environment. We work together to win together. 
  • A mind for the details. The ability to focus on the details while not losing sight of the big picture. 
  • Agile in a fast-past environment. We move quickly. Thriving in an environment that never stops, is a must. 
  • Organization and time management skills in spades. You’ll be handling multiple projects and deadlines that will require you to prioritize then re-prioritize… then… re-prioritize again. 
  • Rebel with a cause. You are always looking beyond the obvious to strive for continuous improvement. 
  • Takes a hold of the wheel. You’ll need to take the initiative and be comfortable doing so. 

The Specifics 

  • Passion for continuous improvement a must; 7-10 years of process improvement experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; bachelor’s degree in business, industrial engineering, or MBA preferred. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lean production systems; proven history of successful lean implementation; proficiency with continuous improvement processes and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing product roadmaps, creating and communicating process flow maps, root cause analysis, new process introduction and change management. 

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of experience in operations, product management, product owner, business analysis, software product management.
