Our Design and Technology Enablement teams are working on the development of a broad portfolio of semiconductor technologies ranging from 350 nm down to 12nm including FD-SOI, RF, High-Voltage and automotive applications.

Your Role:

Creates and optimizes memory bit cells kits for SRAM and NVM bit cells and supports their enablement. Drives definition, creation, verification and documentation of test structures for memory bit cell characterization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Creation, optimization and verification of bit cell kits for different memory technologies for all GlobalFoundries sites. This includes compact model simulation of memory bit cells and their parasitics in a memory array as well as litho simulations in close collaboration with the OPC team. 
  • Responsible for keeping design manual content for memory bit cells up to date. Support for other PDK components and infrastructure content like definition of technology specs etc. for memory bit cells and devices. 
  • Creation, verification and optimization of memory bit cell test structures to characterize and diagnose problems with devices and bit cells. Documentation of these test structures. 
  • Drives the improvement of the infrastructure for bit cell kit and SLM creation and verification. 
  • Analysis of incoming mask sets with respect to memory bit cell content and documentation of the respective results. 

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs. 
  • Other duties as assigned by manager. 
  • Close cooperation with the other parts of the Global Memory Solutions Team. 
  • Close cooperation with the PDK department as well as the departments responsible for memory array design, IP creation, test and OPC. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education –Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in microelectronics, semiconductor physics or related fields ideally with an emphasis on memory bit cell and array layout and the characterization of memory bit cells. 
  • Experience - BS + 2-4 years of experience or MS + 1-3 year or PhD + 0-1 year 
  • Skills – Proficient in the use of common CAD tools like Cadence or Calibre including verification by DRC and LVS. Experience with characterization of semiconductor devices and memory bit cells. Basic knowledge of the functionality of memory bit cells and arrays like SRAM, MRAM, RRAM. Hands-on experience in scripting with Skill, Pearl and/ or Python. Knowledge and good understanding of the components included in a PDK.
  • Travel – Select travel for internal workshops and visiting other GF sites. 
  • Fluency in English Language – written & verbal 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Skills – Layout of memory bit cell kits and memory arrays. In depth knowledge of the functionality of SRAM and NVM memory bit cells and arrays, including RRAM and MRAM. Simulation experience of memory devices and circuits with compact models (SPICE, Verilog). Understanding of the impact of process steps on device and bit cell parameters and how they may be characterized with test structures. 
  • Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter (e.g. DMAIC, Agile/Scrum); the ability to navigate ambiguity. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent presentation skills. 
  • Strong planning & organizational skills.
