We are seeking a highly accomplished and strategic leader to join our leadership team as the Vice President of Global Supply Chain. The successful candidate will be responsible for all activities in the order to customer shipment cycle to include but not limited to safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. FORTNA has a global footprint, and both manufactures and sources materials globally and delivers to the global customer base The position exists to ensure that products are produced safely, shipped to customers on time, exceed quality standards and are produced at the lowest sustainable cost. 

This is accomplished through ownership of corporate objectives such as adherence to the FORTNA Equipment principles, meeting forecasts, production plans, productivity goals, and other key performance indicators while maintaining good employee relations. The Vice President of Global Manufacturing is a strategic business role and must communicate effectively to all levels of the company. We are seeking candidates with expertise in managing lean manufacturing operations. This includes continuously improving our safety, quality, delivery and efficiency, driving the organizational, cultural and process changes needed to identify inefficiencies and improve flow.

Responsibilities Include 

  • Lead a diverse team of manufacturing professionals across different regions, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Lead strategic sourcing to develop the key relationship with suppliers and partners to create the competitive supplier base. 
  • Create the processes to ensure we can make and execute the most effective strategy with all make and buy items in FORTNA’s portfolio 
  • Lead indirect sourcing for all indirect buy items in the FORTNA portfolio inclusive of facilities and facility rationalization 
  • Develop a flexible and cost-effective logistics capability that delivers goods to the field in a manner that makes the assemblers and installers efficient on the job sites. 
  • Build a learning leadership team and organization that can scale as the business grows and expands. 
  • Create and lead operating metrics and KPI scorecard (OEE, First Pass Yield, Equipment Down Time, On Time Delivery, etc.) to proactively measure effectiveness and drive world class operations. 
  • Drive innovation and efficiency improvements in manufacturing processes to enhance product quality and reduce costs. 
  • Responsible for the leadership of the manufacturing, manufacturing engineering and safety functions, as well as their teams. 
  • Oversee the end-to-end manufacturing process, from raw material sourcing to final product delivery, ensuring optimal efficiency and quality control. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and implement best practices across all manufacturing facilities. 
  • Real time monitoring of performance to plan and response to issues and risks. 
  • Responsible for all aspects of the budget for the Manufacturing Operations group; including capital and expense planning, resource forecasting and cost reductions, as necessary. 
  • Partners with Quality & Compliance, Supply Chain, Product, Engineering, and other functions to coordinate the manufacturing process for the introduction on new products, equipment, processes, and technology. 
  • Participates in strategic planning process (including the Sales & Operations Planning process) and develops long-range plans to meet business profit and growth objectives. 
  • Develops, reviews, and implements strategies and actions resulting in continuous improvement in safety, product quality, product delivery, productivity, material utilization, customer service, workforce diversity, quality of work life, and lower manufacturing costs. 
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable governmental regulations and consulting with HR as appropriate 
  • Forges close relationships with members of Operations Leadership Team and other key stakeholders, to ensure best practices are developed and implemented. 
  • Supports cultural improvements and programs that are sustainable and employee engagement driven. 
  • Manages staff selection, performance and development, to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations. 
  • Attending safety reviews and training with Supervisors and other team members. Rigorously ensuring safety policies and guidelines are followed by all team members 
  • Developing capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve productivity, quality, cost and cycle times 
  • Attract talent to enhance capabilities and build high-performing teams 
  • Develop and ensure manufacturing processes based on industry best practices 
  • Ability to leverage MRP to drive costs down and production up 
  • Qualifications 
  • Proven track record of successful leadership in a global manufacturing environment, preferably within a similarly sized organization. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree Engineering or Manufacturing Operations Management 
  • 10+ years of manufacturing management and cross-functional experience which includes Fabrication and Assembly, Materials Management, Quality and Process Improvements. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change, build trust and influence and control outcomes 
  • Working knowledge of Product Development and New Product Introductions 
  • Experience and training in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques 

WORKING CONDITIONS: When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required. Also required is the ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms.
