The University of Washington Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine, are jointly recruiting a full-time, faculty member at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (without tenure due to funding). The primary appointment will be in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology, Oncology. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. This position would be based at the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders (WACBD) in Seattle. The selected candidate would provide clinical care, participate in and supervise clinical research, scholarly, and educational activities to provide comprehensive care and promote optimal health outcomes for adults and children with hemophilia and other types of bleeding disorders throughout the State of Washington and adjoining states.

  • The selected candidate would also act as the Director of Clinical Research at WACBD and would oversee and further develop the clinical research program in hemostasis at WACBD. This would include:
  • Ensuring that research activities are appropriately integrated into clinical care. 
  • Oversight of the WACBD research program, including supervision of research administration/research coordinator/research nurse staff conducting studies at WACBD.
  • Input into planning for overall WACBD program, particularly as relates to the clinical research program. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Position will remain open until filled.

The base salary range for this position will be: $21,250 - $24,332 per month ($255,000 - $292,008 annually) for Assistant Professors - $25,051 - $29,250 per month ($300,612 - $351,000 annually) for Associate Professors, and $29,944 - $37,500 per month ($359,328 - $450,000 annually) commensurate with experience, qualifications, and rank or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Anticipated Start Date August 1, 2024

Qualifications

The selected candidate must have:

  • MD (or foreign equivalent)
  • Completion of subspecialty fellowship in Hematology or Hematology/Oncology and board certification in Hematology (or foreign equivalent).
  • Must be currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Washington

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
