Description

The Program in Medical Ethics and Human Values at the Tulane University School of Medicine is seeking an Assistant Director of Graduate Studies (DGS), at the rank of Assistant Professor, for its Master of Science in Bioethics and Medical Humanities program. The Assistant DGS provides support to the PMEHV and MS Director, faculty, senior program staff, and medical students. In addition, the Assistant DGS works in conjunction with the DGS to manage the MS and certificate programs in Bioethics and Medical Humanities, including working with BMS, admissions, the registrar, and students and faculty as needed. 

The Assistant DGS will be responsible for quality improvement in the MS program, graduate student mentorship and post-graduate placement, and collaboration with program faculty. The Assistant DGS will report to the Director of the Program in Medical Ethics and Human Values.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Doctoral-level degree in a relevant field, such as philosophy, sociology, or bioethics. PhD’s preferred; JDs and MDs with relevant experience and/or training will be considered.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to have significant scholarship in a relevant field, such as bioethics, or medical humanities, excellence in teaching, and writing and communications skills.
