Job Title: Youth Summer Program Counselor Department: Summer Programs Student Employment Type: Non-Federal Work-Study, GA (hourly) Responsibilities:
- Assist summer program faculty and instructors to support student engagement and success in the program, both inside and outside the classroom setting.
- Help set-up and clean up learning environments and activities
- Assist with one to one and small group discussions.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of program activities.
- Ensure that participants are properly supervised at all times.
- Participate in all program activities.
- Set a good example to participants and other staff regarding general program procedures and practices.
- Ensure positive attitude, behavior and interaction with participants and staff.
- Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure proper use, care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to head counselor or camp director.
- Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
- Know and understand all emergency procedures and safety guidelines associated with the camp program.
- Alert first aid staff and other personnel of any medical issues.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18+ years old
- Have earned an Associate’s degree or be a full or part-time student within your junior year of pursuing an undergraduate bachelor’s degree
- First Aid Certification (preferred, but not required)
- CPR Certification (preferred, but not required)
- Prior youth camp or summer camp counselor experience (Preferred)
- Good interpersonal skills
Hours of Position and Compensation:
- $550 weekly compensation stipend
- Full Time Temporary Seasonal (35 hrs. per week, on select weeks)
- Working hours are Monday through Friday (weekdays) between 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Room and board offered upon request (single room accommodation & meals)
