Proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets. Determines strategies for a program with organization-wide impact.

The School of Business at the University of California, Riverside is a nationally-ranked and Internationally recognized AACSB-accredited business school. With over 14,000 alumni all over the world, it is home to the largest undergraduate business program in the University of California system, as well as to the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management, which features a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Ph.D., Professional MBA (PMBA), Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAc), Master of Finance (MFin), and Master of Business Analytics (MSBA) programs. Reporting directly to the Dean of the School, the Assistant Dean of the Graduate programs supports the school's mission and vision for the graduate programs impacting students and communities. The Assistant Dean serves as an advisor to the Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chair, faculty, and graduate programs directors in the areas of admissions, recruitment, retention, administrative policy, student services, student employment, ranking, resource management, personnel management, space planning and utilization and other areas key to the mission of the School of Business. The Assistant Dean oversees the graduate programs including state and multiple self-supporting master programs. The incumbent supervises the daily operations, administration, budget, and programming for two distinct units, Admission and Recruitment, and Graduate Student Success. The Assistant Dean will ensure a high quality of service, with a strong emphasis and commitment to the overall student experience from the recruitment process, through the academic program to the job placement. Responsible for developing a comprehensive plan to create an efficient and effective process incorporating staff, technology, and networking. This position is responsible for monitoring enrollment, identifying trends, and developing successful programs to impact graduate enrollment and success toward graduation and placement positively. As a key member of the Dean's senior management team, contributes to strategic goal setting, organizational decisions, and problem resolution; advises to ensure appropriate organizational resource allocation and continual operational effectiveness in support of School and campus strategic plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new programs, and update curricula and current programs based on market trends. Responsible for leading new recruitment strategies in the international and national markets. Develop new initiatives to improve programs.

25 Develops and oversees a variety of student services programs.

  • Oversees the "Admissions and Recruitment" and "Graduate Student Success" units. Provide guidelines to their director on the managing of the units. Serves as key administrative officer for the units' functional programs, and oversees analysis and policy development for issues and processes. This includes but is not limited to overseeing the full graduate student cycle from recruitment to placement.

15 Works as a liaison between the Graduate Division unit and the School of Business Graduate program in topics related to admission, retention, probation, graduation, and others.

15 Responsible for developing and implementing budgets for managed functions.

  • Makes decisions on administrative and operational issues. Ensures achievement of operation's objectives (operational and budget processes, staff FTE, finance, IT and space planning) to ensure school-wide objectives are met.

10 Develops short and long-term strategic plans for business operations in support of the overarching strategic goals and objectives in collaboration with the Directors and Associate Dean

10 Makes decisions on performance, salary actions, hiring decisions and other human resources related issues of managed staff.

  • Based on data and market trends, provides advice to the leadership group on changes, options and challenges to recruitment, academic programs and employer relations

5 Advises other academic and program managers on student issues and needs related to their programs.

5 Serves as key administrative officer for unit's functional programs, oversees analysis and policy development for issues and processes.

5 Serves as outreach and representation of the School. Develop, deliver, and oversee outreach, programs, and services to build awareness of the School of Business Graduate programs within campus, community, donors, alumni, and employers.
