Responsible for driving innovation in MR portfolio cost structures, system configuration and portfolio level cost management excellence, and driving strategic initiatives for NPI, IB/Lifecycle, and VCP initiatives. Effectively improve the team's ability to achieve margin expansion via productivity and cost visibility, and process improvements through development, production and service lifecycle initiatives.

Job Description

  • Work closely with entire MR Lean Engineering organization to influence, support, and build strategies around wing-to-wing cost conscience cultural changes for MR success.
  • Deliver best in class systemic analytics and tools to drive Portfolio level cost improvement by developing a cross functionally useful costing dashboards for all MR teams.
  • Work to expand initial cost analytics from component/subsystem/system level clarity to full MR portfolio level capabilities including, but not limited to, MR Platform solutions, ISC and manufacturing cost strategies, logistical strategies, design for service and installation, and dual manufacturing or procurement source strategies.
  • Major deliverables for this role are to provide detailed insight to part level cost up to system level finished goods and providing clear opportunities of potential cost improvement through engineering and other cross functional efforts.
  • Build funnels of current prioritized cost out initiative and work to coordinate project level committed support plans to deliver those highest priority benefits.
  • Begin to include other cost related data that impact margin expansion via productivity and cost visibility by looking at wing to wing efficiency opportunities and prioritize highest value actions with accountable actions to deliver on those priorities.
  • Work to build long term design, product, and total landed cost strategies to be utilized by NPI programs, VCP programs, and all MR segment teams to drive increased margin, cost productivity, and best in class platforming opportunities for MR systems.
  • Interface and support NPI teams when building funnel and NPI scope for subsystem level new design integrations by ensuring cost targets, estimations, and implementation lead to true benefit to the system through technology innovation and cost focused deliverables.

This role will drive innovation around MR cost management and insights by providing improved clarity around MR system and portfolio level current costs. Identification and presentation of an improved cost management tool is critical to the success of this role, but is only the first phase of this fundamentally critical function within MR. Once baselines are established across MR systems and portfolio/platforms the Lean Cost Champion will expand the influence and accountability of all MR teams to ensure cost, cost management, and improved cost strategies become a core competency within MR engineering and expanding to the entire MR Segment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years operational or analysis experience in the technical, healthcare or business environment or equivalent fields.
  • Experience with leading cross functional teams to achieve business goals. With 5+ years of proven leadership of a team, coaching, mentoring and developing teams, tools, and process improvements
  • Proven experience in problem solving and driving change using Lean Principles
  • Experience driving functional excelling spanning - technology and process improvements for better business outcomes
  • Experience in Sustaining Engineering and Product Life cycle experience - product launch to end of sales/service support
  • Experience in Variable Cost Productivity management in a product development related to cost and design improvement efforts.
  • Experience working in a global business environment with sound understanding of global process and tools to manage segment level cost evaluations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner
  • Strong PC skills: experience with financial systems/applications such as Oracle, SAP, COGNOS, Business Objects, etc. Strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation.
  • Strong analytical skills: able to clearly link cost impacts to financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change.
  • Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations related to detailed costing to determine best solutions and improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrate LEAN application process and tools to deliver high value and effective outcomes related to current state cost analysis, future state potential improvement, and predictive NPI cost related innovation efforts to business segment portfolio management strategies.

  • Prior Program, Process or Operations Management experience across multiple areas of operations.
  • Ability to lead through influence.
  • Strong working knowledge of lean concepts and methodology Ability to document, plan, communicate and execute programs.
