PAY RANGE: Regulatory Comp Consultant I: $49,200 - $61,500 

Regulatory Comp Consultant II: $60,200 - $75,300

Sr Regulatory Comp Consultant: $76,400 - $101,800

Lead Regulatory Comp Consultant: $89,900 - $119,900

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Responsible for specific assignments related to implementing NERC Operations and Planning compliance requirements and supporting ongoing compliance activities. Provides consultation to business units regarding compliance process best practices, supports the interpretation of regulatory requirements and communications, and maintains an awareness of industry compliance norms and trends. The individual in this role will act as a liaison with internal and external entities regarding the Company’s compliance posture.

Major Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited to:

  • Support/lead efforts across the organization to ensure compliance procedures, processes and controls are uniformly implemented, followed, documented, and integrated with company operations. 25%
  • Develop expertise in the implementation and maintenance of regulatory compliance requirements and compliance controls. 10%
  • With appropriate oversight, perform compliance evaluations against all requirements and regulations as required by FERC, NERC and other pertinent bodies. 10% 
  • Conduct investigations into instances of suspected non-compliance. 30%
  • Support FERC/NERC audits and other regulator led compliance activities, including the collection of documentation that facilitates meeting compliance requirements and reporting. 15%
  • With appropriate oversight, conduct research and analysis, prepare reports as necessary regarding matters of regulatory compliance. 10%

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Typically possesses applicable professional degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or other technical degree; or a minimum of 5-10 years professional experience. FERC or NERC Specific experience a plus. 
  • Certifications applicable to regulatory compliance, or a field subject to regulatory compliance, a plus. Example fields are: Information Security, Utility Operations, Energy Trading/Marketing, Audit, and Accounting. 
  • Experience translating regulatory requirements into actionable activities. 
  • Familiar with evaluating processes to determine compliance
  • Awareness and understanding of Internal Controls
  • Experience with Quality Control/Assurance a plus
  • Experience supporting programs or projects
  • PMP or equivalent experience a plus
  • Familiar with COSO framework (or other similar framework) and Internal Audit practices

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:

  • Process mapping – translating documentation and interviews into process/procedure documents
  • Requirements gathering and gap analysis
  • Expertise in business unit processes which support FERC or NERC compliance activities
  • Regulatory compliance best practices including evaluation of evidence
  • Knowledge of controls identification, design, testing and validation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Self-directed with strong problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility in style of operation and ability to successfully find alternate solutions to problems.
  • Cultivate positive working relationship with all key stakeholders, internal and external
  • Forward thinker with a continuous improvement mindset
  • General knowledge of project management techniques

Working Conditions: Combination of remote and normal office working conditions.
