As a Financial Sponsor Analytical & Data Specialist, you will be responsible for collaborating, developing and implementing the firm’s strategic plan for sponsors. The Sponsor business encompasses the entire private equity ecosystem, including private equity and family office firms, funds, portfolio companies and their employees. In this role, you will investigate and act as a data steward ensuring consistency, completeness and accuracy of our sponsor book of work. The role requires engagement across lines of businesses, front office, risk and operations. 

Job Summary 

Growing our Global Financial Sponsors business – within the Corporate Investment Banking and across the firm – and delivering the firm seamlessly to the investor client base, is a top priority for JPMorgan Chase. Our financial sponsors rely on the firm’s cross line of business banking partners to provide financing for acquisitions and recapitalizations, to optimize the treasury platforms for their portfolio companies, to offer M&A advisory services for both buy-side and sell-side opportunities, and to hedge interest rate, currency, commodity, and equity exposure. While the team maintains the relationship at the sponsor level, we work closely across lines of business’ bankers to ensure local coverage of sponsor-owned companies and investments.

Financial Sponsor Analytical & Data Specialist –is directly involved in centralizing the data collection, analysis of current and past investments, improving the client experience through a one firm lens, simplifying operations, and enhancing analytical capabilities. The data is sourced, validated, and distributed via J.P. Morgan’s strategic reference data platform(s) and is used for corporate financing, trading, risk management, settlement and regulatory reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of the Financial Sponsor ecosystem (including a portfolio of existing initiatives, as well as new initiatives for sponsor clients) through partnership with key business, front office and functional partners across Digital, Data and Product, Finance and Business Management, Marketing, Legal and Risk
  • Monitor and maintain data integrity in core client reference data systems of sponsor related information
  • Regular investigation and maintenance of sponsor portfolios and their respective reporting structures
  • Participate & coordinate strategic multifaceted projects such as: supporting strategic data modelling initiatives across wholesale platforms, data remediations, process improvement analysis, metrics and profitability reporting and analysis
  • Assisting in the development of system enhancements across core tools where required
  • Perform web-based research to find missing or additional information required to establish the correct legal entity relationship with strong interaction with Sales/Bankers, Service, Compliance and Business Management
  • Participate in and lead regular check-ins with partners regarding progress; problem solve when challenges arise, ensuring appropriate accountability and positive momentum; manage and track key follow-ups through completion

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Preferred experience in data management, process management, business management
  • Analytical and quantitative skills, including effective data analysis, investigative problem-solving skills, and ability to make sound decisions about risks and recommend appropriate corrective action
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and bring tasks to completion within established timeframes
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Interact with Product, Technology and Operations team to understand and clarify the requirements
  • Independent and self-motivated
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues, and having the determination to follow through
  • Extensive experience supporting large scale and complex delivery across multiple workstreams with varying timelines / priorities.
  • Structured thinking ability and effective communication skills, including excellent written communication
  • Highly organized and self-motivated individual who is continuously seeking opportunities for improvement
  • Financial services background

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge of Alteryx, SQL or other analytics tools
  • Familiarity with internal JPMC systems and business intelligence toolsets
  • Corporate & Investment Banking experience
