THE POSITION

In support of a high-growth mandate, we’re hiring for the position of Director, Data and Analytics. As a key leader within the company, you will steer the team that delivers timely and reliable information, insights, and support, empowering Maple employees and partners to make informed decisions.

In this dynamic role, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, shaping and executing our data strategy while cultivating a high-performing team. You’ll be responsible for identifying strategic growth opportunities and operational efficiencies through innovative data and analytics practices. Embracing a role as a champion of data-informed decision-making, you'll promote self-service analytics within the organization.

Your impact will extend to crafting impactful data models, analyses, experiments, dashboards, and reports. With data integrity top of mind, you will implement methods to prevent quality issues and enhance our data platform for seamless, reliable processes, all while ensuring strict adherence to data privacy and security controls.

Critical to success in this role will be your business acumen and deep technical proficiency, enabling you to guide strategic decision-making and navigate complex datasets for impactful analysis. Additionally, your ability to hire and retain top talent will be key in establishing a collaborative and high-performing Data and Analytics team. Your adept communication and collaboration skills will guarantee seamless alignment with stakeholders, while your mastery of change management will propel the execution of our data strategy. Upholding the principles of data governance and compliance, you will fortify the integrity and security of our data, contributing significantly to effective data stewardship within the organization.

12 – 18 MONTH DELIVERABLES

To realize the company’s growth mandate, within the first 120 days, your focus will be on building the team in alignment with the organization’s needs and goals. You'll assume leadership of the Data & Analytics function, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

The next 12 to 18 months will involve executing the refined data strategy in collaboration and establishing quarterly plans aligned with company and department objectives. Key priorities will be leading impactful data delivery, ensuring operational excellence, and enhancing marketing and product analytics capabilities. Additionally, you'll explore innovative tools and technologies, uphold data privacy and security controls, and lay the foundation for sustained growth and innovation in our data and analytics capabilities.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • The ideal candidate brings over 8+ years of hands-on experience in data analysis, data science, or data engineering.
  • Possessing strong leadership capabilities, the ideal candidate has a track record of successfully managing a data team, showcasing the ability to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Championing collaboration, the candidate is an effective communicator who has worked with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges and deliver impactful insights. 
  • The candidate has a track record of transforming raw data into meaningful insights. They can confidentially manipulate and analyze data using SQL and Python (preferred) or R. They have practical knowledge of dbt and analytics engineering techniques.
  • Versatile in leveraging business intelligence tools, the ideal candidate has experience with Looker (preferred) or Tableau. They showcase a holistic understanding of advanced analytical techniques and have experience in product analytics, experimentation, applied statistics, and machine learning.
  • Familiar with cloud-based data warehouse services, the candidate preferably has experience with Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake. Well-versed in data integration tools like Stitch, Fivetran, and RudderStack, the ideal candidate automates data processes. With a comprehensive understanding of data management principles, they contribute to effective data stewardship.
  • As an asset, the candidate may have an advanced degree in a technical or scientific field and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning. While not mandatory, SaaS business experience would provide valuable insights into industry-specific challenges.
