COMPENSATION

Annual Minimum - Maximum

The Learning and Development Specialist at Forest Lawn, Glendale will develop, implement, execute, and evaluate training/educational programs. Focus areas include Leadership Development, Service Culture, Compliance/Annual, and Operations Functional training. Work closely with the Learning & Development (L&D) Manager and senior management to ensure training/educational programs meet the needs of managers, supervisors, and employees alike to better serve client families. 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING  

  • Develop and facilitate instructional programs and materials according to Adult Learning Theory, monitor results, measure, and assess effectiveness of programs.
  • Look for ways to continually improve initiatives and training programs. 
  • Gather knowledge of work situations requiring training for employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies. 
  • Recommend leadership development strategies that are targeted for specific departments with the goal of increasing efficiency and effectiveness and generating optimal performance. 
  • Develop teaching outlines and determine instructional methods utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of methods, such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops. 
  • Select or develop teaching aids, such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works. 
  • Coordinate and oversee Train-the-Trainer programs, ensuring selection of trainers is appropriate and maintain active roster. Evaluate trainees to measure progress and effectiveness of training. 
  • Identify potential new programs and vendor partners based on company needs and budget. May select and coordinate training programs with outside vendors or professionals. 
  • Design and coordinate the schedule of new managers and ensure successful completion of initial training. 
  • Evaluate and continuously improve current training initiatives, incorporating best practices for results-driven adult learning. 
  • Identify and cultivate best practices and opportunities to leverage technology, LMS and other innovative learning practices. 
  • Collaborate extensively with other teams to ensure training aligns with company goals, objectives, and company values. 
  • Ensure that all training materials and programs are compliant with laws and regulations. 
  • Partner with L&D Manager to manage the creation and maintenance of all program-related training materials, Train-the-Trainer program, training metrics and measurement. 
  • Remain up to date on corporate training trends and best practices. 
  • Coordinate in partnership with the L&D team and HR the scheduling of training programs for all employees with management. 
  • Assist with other Human Resources related duties as necessary. 
  • Work closely with HRIS team on system training for team, management and employees. 
  • Compile data for annual and semi-annual reports. 
  • Stays informed of Human Resources developments and trends by attending seminars and webinars, and special programs.
  • Conduct special projects and other related duties as needed. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college preferred, and minimum five years of professional experience in Learning & Development, corporate training, organizational development using Adult Learning Theory. 
  • Valid California Driver’s License. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish required. 
  • Experience designing and delivering corporate training using Adult Learning Theory methods. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management. 
  • Comfortable working flexible hours during periods of heavy demand; work nonstandard days and hours to complete the tasks required. 
  • Desire to foster a teamwork environment and promote positive organization relations. 
  • Strong planning and organizational skills. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required in both group and one-on-one settings. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hospitality operations experience.
  • Human Resources experience.

DRUG TESTING POLICY

Prior to beginning employment, all job applicants who receive a job offer will be required to voluntarily submit to a drug screening test conducted by a laboratory designated by Forest Lawn. The drug screening method is a hair collection test that will detect the use of illegal drugs within the past 90 days. A positive drug test may result in the withdrawal of the job offer.

Forest Lawn has registered to participate in the federal government's E-Verify program.
