Summary

The Director of Marketing & Sales (DOM) directs a wide range of marketing campaigns (including both theaters and events) which are inclusive of all the concerts and shows taking place at the venue. The DOM leads the show announces and campaigns with or without promotors, sponsorships (fulfilling PSL contract ads, suites, event sponsors, etc.) in conjunction with the advertising, public relations and related tasks. The DOM works directly with facility partners such as owners (LEPAA), promoters, tours, corporate partners (United Food & Beverage, Lubbock ISD, etc.) sponsors, PSL members, Suite Holders, advertising clients and more to make ensure marketing and promotional needs are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directs the public relations image (brand) of the facility. Establishes and maintains relationships with media, industry influencers and key community and strategic partners. Acts as facility spokesperson and liaison with the general public.

  • Develops and implements an advertising and publicity campaign to create local, regional and national awareness of the venue campus.
  • Creates and supervises complete marketing plans for events, to include all available services: public relations, media planning buying, traditional advertising, social media, promotional development, creating partnerships, non-profit opportunities, etc.
  • Operates the department with a conscious commitment to maximum exposure for the facility and its events, through the most effective and efficient means possible.
  • Develops marketing materials and procedures to have the department function as an in-house advertising agency when possible. Consults with outside agencies when needed.
  • Aggressively seeks new contacts and maintains working relationships with all media representatives, civic and industry organizations, corporate promotional contacts and event and booking representatives.
  • Monitors online and offline ad campaigns (digital, radio, TV, website, magazines, billboards and more).
  • Offers and explores expert advice to develop innovative advertising, public relations, social media while creating new avenues of revenue(s) for the facility.
  • Act as The Buddy Holly Hall liaison and representative with media.
  • Remains current on national trends in the industry local market changes to best serve the facility.
  • Participate in the development of branding and corporate identity initiatives.
  • Develops, maintains, and provides analytics about the facility website and ETIX email marketing program.
  • Manages all aspects of facility sponsorships and fulfillment.
  • Directly supervises Marketing, Public Relations and Event staff.
  • Assists the General Manager with Crisis Management issues concerns and strategy.
  • Acts as Director and Manager on Duty as needed for events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Director of Marketing & Sales manages staff including the Marketing & Events Supervisor, Events Coordinator and the department internship program. The DOM is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. The DOM carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales or Public Relations along with 5+ years of experience in marketing in an executive management role in the entertainment industry, media advertising agency or sports team organization.

Skills and Abilities

  • Detailed organization skills are essential. Should be able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Client and customer service is the focal point of the position. Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with clients, promotors, tours, employees, exhibitors, patrons, stakeholders and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Operate a computer and proficient in MS Windows, Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, and other standard office equipment.
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases.
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Skillful in all aspects of social media, including paid campaigns.
  • The analyzation ROI with all aspects of media campaigns.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the principals and practices of public relations programs, advertising, marketing and sales techniques.
  • Possess skills and experience in budget preparation, purchasing procedures and supervising/training personnel.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Work independently while exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Basic understanding of demographics and media buying ability.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, promotors, tours, employees, stakeholders, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on events, including daytime, evening, weekends and holidays as needed.
