We’re seeking a future team member in the role of Vice President, Full-Stack Engineer II

to join our core Risk and PNL team. This role is located in New York, NY- HYBRID.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Solid understanding of Linux System, can do efficient, reliable programming
  • Understanding AppEngine and how to create and deploy code using Docker images
  • Strong proficiency with Python, Java, GNU, Intel C/C++ compilers, SQL and Git
  • Proficiency in understanding messaging frameworks – MQ/ Kafka/ ZMQ
  • Proficiency in FpML / XML / JSON
  • Understanding of cloud computing, desire is to have worked hands on with Azure
  • Worked with MongoDB using api’s and designing collections for low latency responses and updates.
  • Solid understanding of CPU architecture and cache analysis.
  • Strong Familiarity with testing frameworks
  • Strong familiarity with common tools (make, git, Visual Studio, pytest, coverage, pandas, insomnia, gdb, etc)
  • Knowledge of FX and OTC derivative products and Summit or equivalent Systems needed 

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • Previous experience designing and implementing new systems and features independently.
  • Developed data feeds to downstream systems for payments, settlements, collateral and risk management.
  • Understanding of life cycle events around OTC derivatives and Cash Products
  • Should have knowledge of valuing FX products (FX options, NDF’s, etc.) and Interest rate products (Cap/Floor, swaps, etc.) 
  • Understanding of risk and regulatory landscape from a developer perspective
  • Brings production support experience and can troubleshooting issues under pressure.
  • Previous experience with application profiling and debugging
  • Hands on DevOps experience specifically establishing CI/CD pipelines through GitLab
  • Familiarity with common frameworks Visual Studio, Java, Python, and SQL Server
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. 
  • 7-9 years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

Consults with internal business groups to provide appropriate application software development services or technical support. Provides application software development services or technical support in more complex situations. May also be responsible for requirements gathering and BRD/SRD preparation. Has thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle. Conducts reviews of the test Plan and test Data. May allocate/ coordinate work within a team/project.

The job holder leads the technical design, development and documentation of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems. They should be able to analyze, define and documents requirements for data, workflow, and logical processes and interfaces with other systems. They should also ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved by coordinating, coding, testing, implementation and documentation. 

Must have thorough and demonstrative knowledge on or both the user-side frontend of a website, as well as the backend, server-side that powers the user-side. Additional requirements include intermediate understanding of security principles, relational databases and architecture design principles. Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code. Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites. Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions. Maintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain). 

Actively participate in code reviews. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Apply security and privacy principles. Execute full lifecycle software development. Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems. Ensure software is updated with latest features. Participate in deployment process following all change controls. Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Active learning engagement.

Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans. Demonstrate team work. Leverage existing products/functionality and promote reuse. Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices. 

Collaborate closely with all the other members of the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts that the team has committed to. Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions. Utilize local meetups to gain and share knowledge. Compiles documentation written by more senior developers of all procedures used in system. 

Acts as mentor to junior level engineers. Prior experience with using a specific application development toolkit and knowledge of front end and backend development coding languages such as C#, Java, HTML, NodeJS, CSS, JSON, Angular, JavaScript. Must also have proficiency in Core Spring, ANSI, Docker. Communications and organization skills; team work skills. N/A. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives. 

Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans. They should have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies. Job holder must have broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $91,000 and 200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
