Part Time Faculty office Hours are paid at a flat rate of $30 per hour.

Scope of Assignment
The Part-Time Economics Instructor will be responsible for teaching introductory courses in Microeconomics and Macroeconomics at Modesto Junior College. The instructor will be expected to deliver high-quality instruction following established course outlines, effectively assess student learning, and provide timely feedback to students.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in economics OR bachelor’s degree in economics AND master’s degree in business, business administration, business management, business education, finance, or political science OR the equivalent.

Knowledge of and ability to appraise the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Sensitivity to the needs, problems and challenges associated with the diversity of the community college student population.

Experience teaching introductory economics courses at the college level.
Desirable Professional Characteristics
We seek an outstanding instructor with a strong economics and research methods background.
The ideal candidate should have a track record of designing and instructing transfer-level college courses in economics that enable students to be well-prepared for advanced education in the field.
Additionally, the ideal candidate should have a demonstrated ability to engage students through innovative teaching techniques and foster a culturally responsive learning environment.
Example of Duties
Part of the teaching assignment may be online, in the evening, and/or on Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STANDARDS
Mobility: ability to sit or stand for long periods, move about an office, and reach above and below desk level.
Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write and take notes.
Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment and material weighing up to 25 pounds.
Visual Requirements: close vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens and do close-up work; ability to adjust focus frequently.
Hearing/Talking: ability to hear normal speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and speak in person.
Emotional/Psychological Factors: ability to make decisions and concentrate; frequent contact with others including some public contact; frequent deadlines and time-limited assignments.
