ERM Japan is seeking a professional with Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) savvy to join us as a Manager in Sustainable Finance. You will work with various financial institutions (such as banks, asset owners, asset managers, private equities, venture capitals, international development financial institutions) and corporates (utilities, oil & gas, chemical, transportation, real estate, IT, etc.), helping drive decarbonization as well as positive environmental and social impact both in Japan and Asia.

You will be a proven project manager and a collaborative team player with experience in transition finance, sustainability-linked finance, green finance and impact investing. Here are the responsibilities and requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with ERM experts in a cross-cutting manner to deliver best-in-class sustainable finance solutions, integrating multidisciplinary knowledge and expertise (e.g. climate change, biodiversity, energy transition, environmental and social risk management, M&A, etc.)
  • Implement project tasks as described in ERM’s proposals together with junior consultants.
  • Prepare client meetings and workshops and maintain required documentation.
  • Support ERM Partners-in-Charge to effectively manage projects
  • Perform tasks within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Assist in business development, marketing materials, and client pitches.
  • Interact and maintain successful relationships with clients and ERM employees.

Requirements:

  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English (spoken/written)
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (economics, business, finance, sustainability, engineering, public policy, etc.)
  • 5+ years of related work experience in consulting, banking, or sustainability (1~2 years of experience in sustainable finance and/or impact finance is plus)
  • Passion for sustainability and demonstrated interest in sustainable finance
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting deadlines, etc.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong documentation capability (e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, Word document)
  • Strong analytical ability (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Client-oriented mindset
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Positive attitude
