As a Commodity Manager (on-site), you will lead all value creation activities within assigned commodities to drive continuous improvement within the KPIs of On-time Delivery, Quality and Cost. Responsibilities will include global commodity management, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and stakeholder engagement for direct material spend. This role will have no direct reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, other duties may be assigned:

  • Demonstrated understanding, experience, and application of commodity management level knowledge with mechanical commodities including manufacturers, manufacturing methods, market cost drivers and cost modeling on a global scale.
  • Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) efforts in support of outsourced purchases ensuring supply continuity throughout the production life cycle.
  • Develop, optimize, and execute annual Commodity Strategies using stakeholder input, supply base assessment, performance, and risk analysis to ensure present and future alignment to business needs.
  • Conduct Supplier Business Reviews (SBRs) with key suppliers, as needed.
  • Work with both Purchasing and NPI teams to coordinate and execute strategy.
  • Create and manage RFx's to achieve optimized landed cost with strategic suppliers for multi-plant sites.
  • Lead contract development, execution, and management activities.
  • Manage cost optimization initiatives using market intelligence, problem solving, negotiation & influencing skills to leverage discussions.
  • Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies within the supply chain.
  • Lead/assist new supplier identification, audits, and onboarding activities, as needed.
  • Serve within the escalation path for problem resolution of supply, quality and/or pricing issues.
  • Manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and produce timely results under minimum direction.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, have working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Possess the project management fundamentals of schedule management, developing action plans, identifying deliverables and being accountable for results.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Quality systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to listen, organize and prioritize with urgency, patience and determination with a continuous improvement mindset will be key to success.
  • Uphold Company policies, procedures, and the Business Ethics & Conduct Code.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and competency working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical and financial acumen.
  • Microsoft Office platform knowledge including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in commodity management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with spend and supplier management (negotiations, rationalization, contract management).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with ERP systems.

Preferred Skills/ Experience

  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Healthcare, Vehicular (off-highway) and Military (ITAR, EAR regulations) industries
