DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker is actively seeking a Bridge Project Manager to join our Bentonville, AR office. This position will work on complex bridge projects and develop innovative practical solutions to various structural design challenges. In this role you will lead, manage, and perform design and analysis as well as other structural engineering tasks for bridge systems and components.

The Bridge Project Manager will provide project management and leadership for the successful delivery of Bridge projects within Arkansas. We are looking for a candidate possessing strong verbal and written skills, as well as a demonstrated ability leading Bridge projects. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated success in the delivery of Bridge projects for the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT), local government and county agencies in Arkansas. Specific leadership characteristics will include:

  • Thorough understanding of the project management requirements for leading bridge projects, including the ability to properly scope and manage projects to established metrics for schedule and profit
  • A firm commitment to Quality Control practices
  • Lead marketing pursuits by developing concepts, attending marketing meetings, and providing technical guidance proposals
  • Determine direction and lead market awareness including involvement in professional associations and conferences
  • Work with our Managers and Practice Leaders in the development of targeted client service action plans in the Arkansas market
  • Manage client relationships and guide the application of Michael Baker International services within the bridge practice area to best serve the interests of the client and Michael Baker International.
  • Be responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional Michael Baker International staff and office leadership
  • A strong mentor of project teams and junior staff

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of experience in structural engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in the State of Arkansas or ability to obtain in six (6) months; SE preferred
  • Bachelor's in Structural Engineering; Master's degree is highly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, CAN/CSA S-6, and other North American design codes
  • Experience with the design of multiple bridge types in concrete and steel, and knowledge of staged construction analysis
  • Solid background and understanding of Structural engineering software packages like: MDX, Con-Span, RC-Pier, MIDAS, CSI Bridge, FB Pier
  • Preferred experience with engineering design software, i.e. programs such as LUSAS, SOFiSTiK, MIDAS, MicroStation, etc.
  • Ability to travel as business requires, up to 25%
  • Experience with Design-Build delivery, preferred
  • Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge design specifications; preferred
  • Experience with ARDOT or ARDOT bridge plan layout; preferred

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $89,152 to $145,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
