About the Digital Clinical Transformation Program team

Sanofi has recently embarked on an ambitious digital transformation program. The Digital R&D Clinical Transformation Program team is a central part of this transformation journey, leading the acceleration of the digitalization of Sanofi Clinical landscape by building state-of-the-art platforms, connectors, and Business oriented products with cutting edge technologies.

As part of this transformation program, Metadata Assisted Programming Services (MAPS) team is delivering a new Digital product based on the automation of clinical data standardization through mapping and code generation.

This product will contribute to the acceleration of Trial cycle time, and to the transformation of Clinical processes.

This is an in-house development, aiming to assist statistical programmers when preparing the submission-standardized clinical data and related analysis. The product team follows an Agile way of working, streamlined with long term milestones.

In this context, Sanofi is recruiting a Software Engineering Leader, reporting to the head of the Digital Clinical Transformation Program team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of end-to-end data programming automation, to meet business needs in an operationally and financially efficient manner
  • Identify bottlenecks and improve performance
  • Promote the best practices and correct usage of standards
  • Provide mentorship/coaching to other team members at Budapest Digital Hub site and globally
  • Ensure understandability, useability, and user-friendliness of the product by proactively implementing design best practices and challenging user-requirements
  • Manage external 3rd Party vendors and provide oversight on product implementation
  • Participate in business research, including surveys, workshops, and leading user interviews, to support the product owner in exploring new opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for solution improvements
  • Work with product owners, solution architects, technical leads, and other developers for user story framing/grooming, solution design, and alignment
  • Decompose user stories into tasks, estimate story points, and ensure timely updates in Jira
  • Create and optimize prototypes, aligning with business and digital stakeholders
  • Write required documentation and follow the validation process with QA/quality experts
  • Support QA during SIT/UAT phases, escalating issues, risks, and identifying decisions needed
  • Design, code, test, debug, and maintain digital applications according to requirements
  • Assist in the deployment of applications to production environment and provide technical support during and after the release phase
  • Contribute to the entire application lifecycle, with a focus on coding and debugging
  • Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, extensibility, etc.. 
  • Conduct peer reviews for quality, consistency, and rigor for production level solution
  • Actively contribute to Digital Software Engineering community and define leading practices and frameworks
  • Remain up to date on the company’s standards, industry practices and emerging technologies

About you

You have a strong background in scalable digital application development, extensive knowledge of coding languages, intermediate or advance knowledge of DB design & maintenance, and awareness on UX/UI principles.

  • You can understand Business workflows and how they are implemented in the product
  • You can estimate the programming quality and code-maintainability and provide feedback to the product owner
  • You show curiosity and have appetite for challenge, learning and innovation

Education: 

  • Master's degree or above in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered

Experience & skills

  • Minimum +7 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proven application development experience, preferably in a related industry
  • Proven experience in application lifecycle (implementation, transition to run mode, maintenance and enhancements)
  • Understanding of software quality assurance principles and Agile methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, IICS, Graph DB (neo4j) is a plus
  • Understanding of data integration (extract, transform, and load)
  • Intermediate or Advanced DB statement, experience with relational databases and/or graph databases
  • Familiarity with development-support tools like Node.js, vue.js, GitHub, PyCharm, Docker engine
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering creative and innovative solutions to complex challenges 
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work within a team and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and project requirements in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Initiative: Demonstrated self-motivation and a proactive approach to learning and professional development (new tech, programming language…)
