Overview

The UX Designer will analyze user data, conduct interviews, and utilize surveys to create data-driven user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and sitemaps for our website, landing pages, apps, and other digital platforms. Under the leadership of the Manager, UX Design, this role is responsible for designing the functionality of our digital products and then interating to continuously improve the overall user experience. The UX Designer will also collaborate with our Analytics, SEO, Web Development, and Content Marketing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design impactful web experiences across multiple devices in order to better serve students seeking entry-level careers in the transportation-related verticals we serve
  • Effectively define and document user problems, principles and details necessary to communicate and implement solutions
  • Create everything from sketches to wireframes to working prototypes
  • Create personas through user research and data
  • Collaborate with stakeholders by providing UX recommendations and championing the interests of our customers
  • Assist with defining milestones and success criteria
  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand goals and business requirements while striking a balance by advocating for our customers as you ensure we strive to help them solve their problems
  • Define interactive models, user task flows and UI specifications
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends and best practices in user experience methodology
  • Challenge convention to ensure we meet (and exceed) performance goals and objectives
  • Balance business needs with technical constraints

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Marketing) required or equivalent experience with demonstrated ability may be considered
  • Minimum one-two years of experience supporting web design for both mobile and desktop web or experience in visual or interative design required.
  • A strong design portfolio that includes design and interactive work experience is required; PLEASE SUBMIT A PORTFOLIO LINK WITH YOUR APPLICATION
  • Extensive website design experience, including strong visual, interactive and graphic design skills
  • Prototyping skills is required
  • Design experience within a CMS enviornment is strongly preferred

Skills

  • Create site maps, user flows, user stories, wireframes, interactions, visuals and prototypes that solve complex user needs
  • Experience using data driven analytics and capable to present those results in written report and ppt presentations
  • Ability to work within a team to drive the best designs and experiences
  • Openness to receiving constructive feedback
  • Up-to-date with design trends and technologies being used
  • Comfortable with designing desktop and mobile products
  • Work with internal team members, agency partners, and other vendors
  • Able to visualize and verbalize your ideas to team
  • Ability to turn stakeholder and business reuirements into customer-focused experience design
  • Support the strategic planning efforts for UTI’s website and blog’s user experience
  • Sound decision making skills, technical expertise, and demonstrated ability to manage large complex projects
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite
  • Firm grasp of the English language, along with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Attention to detail
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Work in a fast-paced environment where things can change quickly

Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate controlled environment.
  • Corporate home office environment.
  • Regular business hours, occasional overtime.
  • Periodic travel required, approximately 5%.
