The department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Database Analyst to work at UHealth Boca Raton. The Database Analyst, Intermediate assumes responsibility for monitoring and maintaining research and non-research databases. The incumbent in this position also oversees the design and development of database applications and interfaces and acts as a liaison of all staff using databases.

  • Lead the research group’s effort to:
  • Develop and refine data collection instruments (e.g. CRFs)
  • Ensure data completeness, correctness, and consistency
  • Perform routine data review to ensure data quality
  • Utilize statistical software to clean and merge datasets from multiple sources
  • Perform data queries and create reports (summaries, tables, figures, etc.)
  • Create view tables and prepare data for statistical analysis
  • Identify, vet, and help select a suitable database developer (external vendor or UM in-house) to provide long-term maintenance and ongoing development of the research database
  • Serve as the principle liaison between the research group and aforementioned database developer
  • Lead the effort to identify, select, and train a part-time research analyst to assist with data management
  • Assist the PI and co-PI in overseeing the data-related activities and work product of more junior research staff (e.g. research analysis, students, …)
  • Help CCBH scientists manage, process, and analyze data.
  • Build and maintain databases to contain the information, and create or select algorithms to process, analyze, visualize, and interpret.
  • Help with database-related aspects of research, such as devising appropriate queries, assist with experimental design, and data collection.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date data and database documentations (e.g. data dictionaries or metadata)
  • Work with the Medical IT department to ensure the correct functioning of data storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures
  • Other data-related tasks as requested by the principal investigator

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Strong quantitative aptitude
  • Demonstrated facility with analytic tasks
  • Strong sense of focus and attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to acquire new knowledge quickly
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience with SAS, R, or other similar statistical software
  • Demonstrated experience in writing novel code for data management tasks
  • Experience in a medical research or healthcare setting
  • Experience with large datasets and relational databases

Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
