As a result of significant sales, Dematic has an immediate need for a Director of Finance - Sales Controlling to lead our sales controlling team and partner with our SVP of Sales for North America. This key position is the business partner to the SVP of Sales for North America and supports the Sales, Marketing and Business Development functions. The position reports directly to the CFO and reports dotted line to the SVP of Sales. It has 3 direct reports and directly supports the sales team responsible for 60% of Dematic's Global order intake. The right candidate for this role will be equally comfortable operating at an executive level with strong communication skills and an eye for detail.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the strategic business partner to the SVP of Sales and the Sales and Marketing organization.
  • Drive initiatives to increase order intake with analysis and process improvement.
  • Financial controllership for Sales costs of $130M for an organization of 500 heads.
  • Lead and develop a team of 3 to 4 Finance professionals.
  • Develop monthly order intake forecast in partnership with the Sales Leadership team driving improvements in forecast accuracy. Note: This forecast is presented to the NA CEO and CFO monthly and then is utilized to for business resource planning purposes.
  • Develop procedures to improve “pre-flight” risk assessments and management of internal and external financial deliverables in the pre contract phase of a project.
  • Become the technical expert and trusted advisor to the Sales Team in pre-contract discussions which includes liaising legal, tax or corporate on complex deal structures and preparing documents that will require internal approval up to KION Board.
  • Work closely with the NA Sales Leadership to advise on customer pricing levels. Develop and enhance complex models, tools and reports used to compare pricing levels to appropriate benchmarks to balance margin targets vs competitiveness and assess risk within bids.
  • Develop, track and communicate Sales KPI’s.
  • Direct the order intake elements of strategic planning and annual budget processes.
  • Governance of commission programs including advice and modelling of potential plan changes and calculation and approval of commission payments.
  • Add value to the sales organization through the development of ad hoc analysis, cash flow models, margin comparisons as well as driving process improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the entire sales organization.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required (Advanced degree, MBA, & CPA preferred)
  • 10+ years' experience in a financial management position
  • Experience in strategic planning, commercial finance or FPA.
  • Strong time management with the ability to operate to deadlines while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence peers and business leaders.
