Position Summary:

The successful candidate will work on the Sunoco LP Credit Risk Management team reporting to the Senior Manager – Credit Risk Management. The Credit Risk Analyst will be involved in daily credit monitoring activities, special projects as required, and communication with counterparties and internal legal, accounting and marketing teams. The Credit Risk Analyst must communicate effectively in a cross-functional environment on matters relating to credit risk.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer financial statements using credit scoring model in order to evaluate the financial wherewithal of prospective and existing customers for the purpose of granting a credit limit.
  • Coordinate the credit evaluation process with the Energy Transfer (ET) Credit team on customers common to ET and Sunoco
  • Set up new counterparties in credit database with the appropriate information.
  • Maintain approved credit limits in credit database and confirm that limits are correctly interfacing to commercial systems by reviewing the interface error report.
  • Determine whether collateral is necessary to reduce credit risk if Sunoco cannot grant open credit to customer.
  • Obtain and negotiate parent company guaranties and letters of credit as appropriate to mitigate risk.
  • Negotiate the credit terms included in any commercial agreements.
  • Monitor credit exposure against customer’s credit limit, collateral, or guaranty, as applicable.
  • Review credit exposure exceptions daily to determine if collateral is required to mitigate the incremental credit exposure.
  • Monitor the expiration date of guaranties and letters of credit to ensure this credit support stays in place if still required.
  • Maintain and monitor external and internal credit ratings in credit database.
  • Monitor counterparties in RightAngle to ensure parent companies and subsidiaries are accurately set up and linked appropriately.
  • Assist the Credit Risk Management team with the management of customer and internal business relationships.
  • Research and provide data/information for miscellaneous reports on an ad hoc basis.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience in commercial and consumer credit management with financial statement analysis required. Energy experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity and experience with credit reporting agencies
  • Experience with analyzing financial statements and resulting ratios and risk management systems.
  • Strong Excel and Word skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills necessary
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • RightAngle experience a plus
  • Ability to think proactively, multi-task, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a sense of urgency.
