SUMMARY

The System Vice President of Perioperative Services is a system level leadership position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, with matrixed accountability to the System CNE and EVP, Physician Enterprise. This leader is highly visible and operationally focused and provides oversight for all aspects of Perioperative Services across Rochester Regional Health. This includes the continuum of perioperative services to include pre-operative testing and optimization operations, pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care and services, post-anesthesia recovery, ambulatory surgery/procedures areas, and sterile processing. Directs the provision of perioperative care in this service line while maintaining national and state standards of patient care and regulatory compliance.

ATTRIBUTES

  • Master’s degree in nursing, business, hospital or health care administration or other related field (e.g., MSN/MBA/MHA). If master’s degree is not in nursing, a baccalaureate or doctorate in nursing is required.
  • Minimum of Ten (10) years of successful and progressive experience in a healthcare system or hospital leadership.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of leadership experience managing a variety of patient care services in a complex surgical services healthcare environment.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Special skills required include business acumen, strategic planning, organization assessment, highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyze information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable alternative solutions to a question or problem and evaluate the consequences of choosing each alternative.
  • Superior skills in communicating ideas of products, services, processes, etc. through verbal descriptions, presentations, and written document.

RESPONSIBILTIES

  • STRATEGIC GUIDANCE. Provides leadership and strategic vision to develop and operationalize standard processes related to perioperative services across the organization. Advises medical staff, department heads and administrators in matters related to perioperative services, strategies, and operations. As co-chair of the System Perioperative Council, brings together division perioperative leaders creating a unified perioperative governing body establishing benchmark clinical practices and business strategies across the organization. Partners closely with senior executives, sales and marketing executives and service line management teams across the organization to enable growth and strategies.
  • QUALITY & STANDARDIZATION. Drives standardization and reduces clinical variation, where possible, to ensure high quality care and services, compliance with regulatory standards and requirements, and improve operations, efficiencies and profitability. Defines and facilitates the establishment and implementation of patient care standards including clinical practice guidelines, policies and procedures, and tools to facilitate evidence-based practice that meets national, state and local rules and regulations as well as voluntary accreditation standards. Identifies and facilitates process improvement activity that promotes safety, positive patient experience and staff / physician engagement and satisfaction. Provides critical input on and oversees implementation of technology solutions to improve quality, safety, efficiency and end-user satisfaction.
  • BUSINESS PLANNING. Leads and/or facilitates comprehensive business planning and implementation plans and processes for new program development to drive growth and lower costs while maintaining or enhancing quality, including capital planning and projects across the organization. Provides innovative thinking and strategies for new initiatives to improve overall service line performance. Engages with national organizations and leaders to obtain and share best practices.

PAY RANGE:

$150,000.00 - $250,000.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
