Est. 2017. The Doris J. Froebe Professorship in Nursing was established by Doris J. Froebe. Dr. Froebe is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Nursing MSN Class of 1961 and retired faculty member. Dr. Froebe held a lifelong interest in nursing administration.

Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) is seeking exceptional candidates for the Dr. Doris J. Froebe Endowed Professorship position at the Indiana University School of Nursing, Indianapolis campus (IUPUI). The Froebe Professor will focus on research scholarship related to health system leadership and resulting patient and administrative outcomes, teaching/mentorship of students and faculty (Indianapolis, Bloomington and Fort Wayne) and service at a national and international level.

Responsibilities Include:

1) to have or to develop an independently funded research program of international caliber: Candidates must demonstrate an outstanding scholarly record of research, exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking, vigorous research agenda that will secure competitive, external funding. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with interdisciplinary teams of interprofessional researchers across clinical and academic settings and possession of interpersonal skills necessary to serve as a mentor and a role model for students and faculty colleagues.

2) to participate in graduate teaching: The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise to contribute to the teaching mission of the IU School of Nursing. Experience with active learning strategies is desirable.

Basic Qualifications

Qualified applicants must hold an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field who focuses on leadership health systems. The successful applicant will have a record of scholarly achievement, including a history of success in obtaining external grants suitable for a senior tenure-track position and appointment as a tenured full professor. Candidates should declare an area of excellence in research and must demonstrate a national/international reputation in a focused field of research and show a body of work that is well-established and cumulative.

The ability to work with interdisciplinary teams of interprofessional researchers across clinical and academic settings and possession of interpersonal skills necessary to serve as a mentor and a role model for students and faculty colleagues are essential. Licensed or eligible for Indiana RN licensure is also a requirement.
