JOB SUMMARY 

We are looking for multiple Postdocs with a strong expertise in Geospatial Science demonstrated by publications and prior research experience. Recent Ph.D. graduates in geospatial science, geography, electronic engineering, computer science, or related disciplines are highly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will conduct research in the Remote Sensing Lab at Saint Louis University under the supervision of Dr. Sagan. 

We are looking to fill these positions in the following expertise: remote sensing, machine learning and crop growth modeling with application focus on predicting seed composition (protein, oil, fiber, energy), GIS mapping and spatial analysis, and remote sensing-based measurement of carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural management. 

These positions are funded by external grants with an initial appointment for a year that can be renewed for multiple years depending on satisfactory progress and funding availability. 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Identify new scientific initiatives and develop grant proposals for external funding. 
  •  Collect, process, and analyze geospatial data from various sources such as satellites, drones, and ground-based sensors. 
  • Lead and contribute to research papers to be published in peer reviewed literature. 
  • Participate in field surveys to obtain relevant ground truth data. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Expertise in geospatial analysis and modeling techniques. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in proposal development 
  • Advanced knowledge of geospatial software packages such as ArcGIS, and ENVI. 
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or MATLAB. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and organizational ability. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

PhD in geospatial science, geoinformatics, geography, computer science, remote Sensing, or related areas with strong geospatial skills. Record of scholarly research and publications.
