Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, the Operations department continually seeks ways to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.

The Morgan Stanley US Operations Tax Compliance team is seeking a Team Manager to support its Compliance and Quality Assurance function. 

The purpose of this function is to uphold a strong control environment and promote audit readiness through testing and evaluation of Tax Operations processes and systems that support regulatory documentation, withholding and reporting requirements. This managerial role will primarily focus on overseeing a team of analysts responsible for testing and evaluating tax compliance within Stock Plan & Retail based client accounts, inclusive of US (IRS/State) and non-US regulatory requirements. Non-US regulatory requirements include, but are not limited to, Common Reporting Standards (CRS) and Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) client tax documentation, withholding, reporting functions. In addition, the Team Manager will be responsible for leading key strategic initiatives to further enhance the OTC team's target operating model, and/or ad-hoc projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications 

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5-7 years of Financial Services Experience
  • 3-5 years of Chapter 3 (NRA), Chapter 4 (FATCA) / chapter 61 (Back-up Withholding) experience.
  • CRS Reporting requirements and/or CRA Client Tax Requirements a plus

Role is Hybrid and will require in office attendance 3 days/week.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $70,000 and $125,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
