Mission
To own the Product/Solution architectures covering Cameras, Compute Units, Software at ecosystem level.
The main missions are to ensure;
- Overall product/solution coherency with customer RFx, mid/long term strategies and market demands
- A robust architectural runway - Architectural Vision and Roadmaps
- Support technology/innovation watch associated to the business perimeter
- Continuous technology solution and market intelligence transfer to the internal stakeholders
- Define and design the product/solution architectures for customer RFI/RFQs, next generation technology trends and vehicle architectures covering whole ecosystem aspects
- Create and maintain the Product Configurator covering the Product Line portfolio
- Support development teams in the early stage (e.g kick-off) of new business awards
Responsibilities
Product/Solution Architect is responsible for;
- architecting ecosystem level solutions and technologies aligned with customer needs, market demands, technology trends, PG/PL SPP and Roadmaps for a given portfolio
- close relations with key customer, supplier and internal stakeholders to create technically and commercially competitive unique product solutions following the Solution best practices
Market Intelligence, Technology Trends Analysis & Roadmap
- Continuous watch of customer needs, market demands, technology trends and supplier roadmaps with translation into the Product/Solution Roadmaps
- Track technology across the supplier landscape (semiconductor, ISV and IHV etc)
- Create an architectural vision for product offerings
- Support roadmap and technology development plans by supporting the Product Manager and share the vision with internal stakeholders
- Deliver Product Roadmap presentation sessions to the customers and internal stakeholders
- Provide recommendations and expertise to Valeo R&D network
- IP clearance on product solutions and protect ideas with IDM/Patents applications
Product/Solution Architecture Design
- Design and evolve holistic product solutions for customers and stakeholders based on Customer RFx, market intelligence and technology trends at ecosystem level
- Review of product requirements and subsequent translation into product/solution architectures (mechatronics and SW dimensioning), evolve technological solution
- Use models to describe and visualise the system where possible
- Specify the use cases and operational domains
- Decompose the solution - interfaces, HW/SW (Chipsets, BSP, Hypervisor, OS, Middleware, APIs)
- Define the solution context
- Ensure scalability and implementation flexibility
- Perform technology tradeoffs
- Identify the risks and how to address them
- Liaise with the development and test teams to ensure the coherency of solution context and solution intent with internal standards
- Maintain and update reference design and documentation
- Lead and deliver customer presentations of technical offers onsite or at customer site.
- Active contribution to the chipset spec definition for future products.
- Evaluate and select suppliers, align the technical solution across the supply chain.
- Centralise and maintain all platform hardware resources (memory, computational power) for applicable features/functions including framework
- Functional allocation and hardware resource utilisation
- Maintain the architectural streamline, ensure functional landscape coherency
- Create and maintain Product Configurator
- Ensure an optimized design to cost approach
- Ensure technical integrity of all platforms into product/solution and interoperability of all sub-systems
- Interface to other BG/PG/PL entities, customer offices and regions to bring competencies and clarity on the technical offering/discussions
Solution Deliverables & Processes
- Ensure solution work products are baselined and released on a regular basis
- Complete scheduled tasks to deliver solution outputs as per the agreed timing plan
- Assure Feasibility and Sustainability, promotes Continuous Delivery Pipeline (CDP) of ideas/technologies
- Lead Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and compliance with Sys/SW Engineering Disciplines
- Promote Solution centric best practices such as Solution Context, Solution Intent, Solution Backlog, Solution Roadmap and Solution Vision
- Follow RFQ processes such as FVS validation, Platform Committee and DR0 approvals
Education/Training
Degree in Electronics, Computer, Software Engineering or equivalent
Professional Experience
- 18+ years of experience in embedded product development
- 10+ years of experience with automotive ADAS/AD or IVI/Cockpit based products utilising high performance SoCs and MCUs
- 5+ years of architect role experience (solution, system, hardware, software or function)
