About the Team:

The Southeast Asia (SEA) Public Policy & Government Affairs team's work spans across a broad and diverse range of functions and workstreams, including government affairs and government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships; and philanthropy. The mission of the SEA Public Policy & Government Affairs team is to develop and advocate for solutions for pressing high technology issues and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business.

We are seeking a Public Policy Manager to lead ByteDance's policy strategy and engagement in Vietnam. In this role, you will be working collaboratively to promote a political, legislative and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for the business, while contributing to global and national socio-economic impact objectives.

Responsibility

• Build and establish relationships with local and national policy makers, government authorities and advisors;
• Work with cross-functional teams to shape a strategic and actionable public policy plan for Vietnam, and generate necessary reporting and documentation of outcomes;
• Actively identify emerging and significant policy issues in Vietnam, and engage with stakeholders on issues of importance;
• Monitor political and social events in Vietnam, and work with cross-functional teams to leverage opportunities or mitigate risks;
• Work closely with trust & safety, communications, legal, e-commerce and product teams on the development and integration of key public policy projects;
• Manage critical strategic initiatives and drive these public policy related activities;
• Build creative public policy programmes, track qualitative and quantitative analysis of the programme performance and ensure programme impact

Qualifications

• 10-12 years of public policy experience, with a focus on Vietnam;
• Strong established relationships with local government, NGOs, and institutions;
• Deep understanding of the formulation and execution of public policy strategies;
• Entrepreneurial spirit, including ability to work independently and autonomously;
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, with outstanding attention to detail;
• Ability to react quickly to changing circumstances and deal with ambiguity to build creative policy programmes and solutions;
• Possess a positive attitude and great people management skills;
• Experience working across ecommerce, internet and technology brands preferred;
• Proficient in written and spoken English;
• Experience working in multi-market and multi-cultural environments.
