The Investments and Capital Markets (I&CM) Data Services division is investing in the future of Data and Product Governance and looking for a capable technologist to lead Freddie into new ways of understanding and maximizing data. This could be you!

To thrive in this division, you must have a comprehensive understanding of system implementation and design and be enthusiastic about leading development of new paradigms in software system architecture.

Your Impact:

The software developers and data governance staff will use your utilities and procedures to support data governance. A variety of responsibilities are involved in this position, including implementing and crafting sophisticated APIs and UIs, integrating automated metadata maintenance technology into existing CI/CD pipelines, and encouraging developer adoption of metadata specifications. It is important that you are comfortable documenting systems and developing library code in order to lead developers in optimizing their engineering workflow. This position will also ensure that the UI design is inventive, functional, yet simple so that it can be used by individuals with a wide range of technical backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on unusually complicated problems and provides software solutions that are highly creative and inventive
  • Analyze business requirements
  • Develop technical and architectural documentation and specifications
  • Set standard methodologies to guide future software development projects
  • Drive technical innovation and stay up to date on emerging trends in the data governance field
  • Code and script applications that enable and inspire other software engineers
  • Lead contributions to coding standards that guide other developers
  • Develop automations for CI/CD in an agile environment with automated testing
  • Participate in code reviews and team mentorship as a skilled technical contributor

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of software development experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
  • Proficiency in Standard Java or other object-oriented language
  • Expertise with relational database schema design and maintenance
  • Ability to understand and write code documentation that conveys your solution to others
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize application for security and responsiveness
  • Familiarity with version control (git)
  • Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping frameworks (JPA, Hibernate, MyBatis)
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies
  • Knowledge of automated test frameworks
  • Mock oriented testing with positive and negative testing (JUnit/Mockito)
  • Basic Docker experience

  • Serve as a consultant to top management in long-range company planning pertaining to new or projected areas of advancements.
  • Can self-initiate assignments and determine and pursue courses of action crucial in acquiring desired outcomes.
  • Understanding of application performance diagnostics and analytical tools

Freddie Mac offers a comprehensive total rewards package to include competitive compensation and market-leading benefit programs. Information on these benefit programs is available on our Careers site.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $184,000 - $276,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
