Description

Due to exciting growth in our Environment business, we are looking for Intermediate / Senior / Principal Botanists to work in our passionate Flora & Vegetation Team. We are interested in experienced botanists that can manage projects, lead field surveys, write technical reports, and mentor junior staff.

The role:

Based in our Perth office, the Flora & Vegetation Team are experts in the field of flora and vegetation, with demonstrated experience in undertaking comprehensive detailed flora and vegetation assessments, targeted significant species surveys, technical reporting, and impact assessments. We have a comprehensive pipeline of exciting current and upcoming projects spanning across the Pilbara, Great Victoria Desert, Great Sandy Desert, Gascoyne and Midwest bioregions of Western Australia.

As part of the Flora & Vegetation Team, you will:

  • Lead flora and vegetation field surveys, including targeted surveys, in a range of remote and diverse environments across Western Australia (and potentially interstate).
  • Analyse ecological data and prepare clear, concise technical reports.
  • Liaise with technical and subject matter experts.
  • Prepare proposals, budgets and tender documents.
  • Mentor graduate and intermediate botanists.
  • Provide technical support and advice to the broader Environmental Services Business or receive appropriate mentoring to develop your technical skills.

To be successful in the role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in biological or environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of two years (Intermediate) and five years (Senior) professional experience in undertaking terrestrial flora and vegetation field surveys, ideally with an environmental consultancy.
  • Terrestrial flora and vegetation report writing experience, in alignment with relevant EPA guidance.
  • Ability to undertake field surveys in remote locations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including highly developed technical reporting skills.
  • Taxonomic experience will be seen as beneficial but not essential.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and embrace innovation.
