Buckeye Bahamas Hub, formerly Bahamas Oil Refining Company International Limited (BORCO), is a marine terminal located on Freeport, Grand Bahama. The terminal has the ability to store, blend, transship and bunker fuel oil, crude oil and various petroleum products.

Buckeye Bahamas Hub (BBH) was constructed over the period 1968 to 1975 on 390 acres of developed land of a total of 565.2 acres owned. Construction commenced in 1968 with two distillation units that possessed a combined capacity of 250,000 barrels per day (1 barrel is equivalent to 42 U.S. gallons). It began operations in November 1970 as a refinery. 

The refinery permanently shut down in 1985 and Buckeye Bahamas Hub began operating as an independent storage terminal after that date. BORCO has 21.6 million barrels of storage capacity in 66 tanks; 6 offshore berths, two control rooms; and a waste recovery system.

Buckeye Bahamas Hub was acquired in 2011 by Buckeye Partners L.P. 

Buckeye Bahamas Hub is currently seeking a Director, BBH Operations with good communications skills and the ability to analyze and solve both personnel and operational problems in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our growing team!

Role Summary:

Lead Operations at BBH which includes: promotion of Buckeye’s safety culture and policies across the terminal, implementing Buckeye’s Safety and Operations Management System (SOMS), leading employee development, provide guidance to the Operations Managers, Terminal Specialists and Team Leads, interface with corporate programs to ensure implementation of standards and initiatives, ensure close coordination between Operations and Commercial teams to drive customer service and execution.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:

  • Lead compliance with all Buckeye HSSE policies and procedures.
  • Lead the achievement of the terminal’s revenue and expense budget targets.
  • Ensure that Operating policies and procedures are being complied with and followed.
  • Provide direction to the Land Operations and Marine Operations Teams.
  • Assist the Regional Operations Advisor and Commercial teams with addressing any customer related matters.
  • Drive accountability across all levels within the Operations organization.
  • Lead and support emergency response activities.
  • Support facility integrity and terminal asset maintenance requirements to improve reliability.
  • Maintain a working relationship between Operations and facility /project maintenance personnel in the terminal to ensure optimal achievement of objectives.
  • Interface with government agencies and authorities as needed to promote a strong working relationship with Buckeye’s external stakeholders.
  • Ensure required inventory management practices are in place and being followed.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor degree in a related field or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in plant or terminal operations required.
  • Significant technical troubleshooting experience required.
  • Significant experience managing operations helpful.

  • Individuals must have the knowledge and ability to analyze and solve both personnel and operational problems to be successful in this type job. Good communication skills are required. The individual must possess leadership abilities and promote the team environment.
  • Normal and extraordinary work circumstances may often require without advance notice extended after hours, weekends or holiday time to be spent at the terminal.

Essential Functions:

  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with HSSE guidelines, and local regulatory requirements
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the current HR policies.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.

Physical & Safety Requirements:

  • This person must perform duties that require considerable hours of sitting and walking throughout the terminal.
  • Required use of all safety equipment in performance of job.
