Position Summary

The Salesforce Developer III is responsible for design, development, configuration, testing, implementation, and maintenance of Salesforce application functionality and code that can aid University Advancement in meeting its goals. Developer delivers solutions to Advancement by developing within the Salesforce platform using Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Component Framework to provide enhancements and add new functionality to systems and applications, customize visual layouts to provide users with the most relevant experience possible, integrate third-party platforms, and troubleshoot technical issues.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Application Lifecycle Activities

  • Codes, monitors, maintains, tests and debugs software applications.
  • Builds integrations in/out of Advancement’s CRM to share data with other systems at WashU and third-party tools.
  • Follows established change management processes.
  • Facilitates code reviews and enforce code standards.
  • Develops and executes test plan development.
  • Researches and evaluates new technology, products, specialized hardware and tools to optimize development and functionality of applications.
  • Makes recommendations to management and customers.
  • Assists in ensuring team members complete tasks as assigned, taking corrective action to stay on schedule.
  • Analyzes and documents existing processes as they relate to information technology solutions.

Support

  • Supports complex operational activities and recoveries.
  • Coordinates with software vendors and external service providers.
  • Troubleshoots escalated software bugs and provide fixes.
  • Provides off hours support, as needed.

Leadership

  • Provides, cultivates and fosters excellent customer service.
  • Enforces adherence to departmental standards.
  • Guides and mentors less experienced staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven years relevant technology experience
  • Experience working in higher education, with strong preference given to candidates with experience in advancement/fundraising
  • Experience in a higher education technology environment, especially with Affinaquest or Salesforce
  • Experience developing multiple bidirectional integrations between Salesforce and other third-party applications
  • Knowledge of MuleSoft and REST and SOAP APIs
  • Strong understanding of best practices in Salesforce development, especially integrations development, and administration.
  • Team Skills: Supports teammates at all times and in any way necessary to maintain a productive, energetic, efficient and dynamic team. Communicates effectively and frequently both verbally and in writing with other members of the team. Collaborates with other teammates to provide assistance, and expertise, as well as to receive expert input and assistance from others delivering the best solution and experience for the customer.

Enthusiastic and committed to helping others and exhibit the ability to quickly assess the specific needs of the customer to determine an appropriate course of action. Ability to quickly defuse stressful or anxious situations. 
  • Advanced technical knowledge of application systems and analysis, as well as industry best practices.
  • Ability to research and implement new technologies in specialty or related areas.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Champion continual improvement of internal processes and procedures.
  • Ability to consult with clients and higher level technicians and analysts to resolve technical problems and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to interact with customers to discuss and recommend alternative technical solutions.
  • Ability to work extra hours and recognize the need to do so.
  • Ability to adjust scheduled time.
  • Ability to adjust to change and demands on time.
  • Significant experience with Salesforce development, APEX, Visualforce, and/or Lightning Component Framework.
  • Experience with web development, especially Javascript and commonly used libraries such as React, AngularJS, jQuery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science.
  • Three years relevant technology experience to include experience with Salesforce development leveraging Apex, Visualforce, and/or Lightning Web Component framework.
  • Salesforce Platform Developer Certification.

Grade

G15

Salary Range

$82,500.00 - $145,200.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
