Job Description

Why would you enjoy this new opportunity?

You have an analytical mind and a passion for the craft of software engineering, and you love solving problems and learning new things. You're passionate about software quality and the opportunity to make a meaningful, widespread impact through the work you do every day is important to you. You are looking for an opportunity to work for a company whose software is utilized by every Fortune 500 company and significantly impacts every industry. Our product is used across verticals including education, finance, retail, government, airlines, etc., enabling critical line of business use cases. You want to be a part of a collaborative environment whose teams care about the product they are creating, how they create it, and the impact it has on customers' business objectives.

What is the primary need, technical challenge, or most significant problem for this role?

Workspace ONE is a digital workspace platform that simply and securely delivers and manages any app on any device by integrating access control, application management, and multi-platform

endpoint management. It is available as a cloud service or for on-premises deployment. Our software scales to support millions of devices across multiple device platforms. We have a high bar for quality, performance, scale, availability and supportability – our customers are counting on us to keep their business running. We support complex use cases that span across VMware and services/capabilities provided by OS vendors. We integrate with customers enterprise infrastructure to provide a seamless management experience.

As a member of the Workspace ONE UEM System Test team, you will be joining a group of passionate innovators who are responsible for our product’s “backbone” and an essential component of our Workspace ONE platform. You will be in charge of the Customer Flow Program with priority customers as well as end-to-end testing with modern architecture, allowing the larger organisation to optimise for both speed and quality. To address cross-cutting concerns, you will work closely with senior engineers, architects, support engineers, and development teams. You will work in a fast-paced environment where quality and efficiency are prioritized. You are eager to learn and to “solve the difficult problems.”

You will be responsible for evaluating project requirements, designing effective test plan approaches, methodically building and running test cases, and documenting any problems detected during testing. Test design, implementation, execution, troubleshooting, and the key component of test automation will be covered.

In order to increase the testability of product features, you will also need to actively engage in design and code reviews. You will write and maintain test scripts, as well as examine automated test results on a regular basis to improve our testing methods.

In addition to manual testing, you will create automation tests to thoroughly validate solutions. You will also take the initiative to implement and manage customized tools, quality gates, and services, which will help to strengthen the overall quality assurance infrastructure.

Understanding real-world client deployments is critical, and your ability to incorporate user feedback into product development will be highly regarded. You are going to provide high-quality products and solutions to our clients in collaboration with our R&D and Product Management teams.

Within the first 6-12 months, what are the 2-3 most important performance goals for you to be successful in this role?

  • Platform Proficiency: One of the main goals for this time period is to have practical experience with and a thorough grasp of at least one important platform or product that is essential to our testing efforts. Your test coverage will be greatly improved thanks to this in-depth expertise, allowing you to more accurately spot and fix possible problems.
  • Active Participation in Engineering Forums: Active participation in engineering forums, such as design reviews, code sherpas, and other group conversations, is an important objective. Your active participation will raise the bar for engineering excellence within the team and improve the general caliber of our product.
  • Customer Flow documents and Review: During this time, you will be in charge of evaluating and executing customer flow documents for a single customer. This comprehensive evaluation and execution process will assist you in gaining insights into real-world client use cases, offering useful input for product enhancement, and ensuring that our solutions properly fulfil customer demands.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments or requirements will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • End-to-end flow with integration with various system components, including third-party applications.
  • Automate complex testing scenarios and use cases to reduce test execution and triaging time and improve engineering efficiency.
  • Work on initiatives that improve the testability and supportability of the code.
  • Identify and address areas where test coverage can be improved by either refactoring, building or adopting new tooling and technologies.
  • Actively participating in design and code reviews from functional teams
  • Help grow and mentor a team of engineers.

Where is this role located?

This role is located in Bangalore and supports hybrid work which allows 'collaboration' and 'focus' days.
