Description:

Position Purpose

This position works closely with the OR team to schedule surgical procedures at St Francis Hospital. Must possess good critical thinking skills and excellent customer service skills. Previous experience scheduling surgery a plus.

What you will do

  • Schedules surgical procedures, including, pre and postoperative visits under the direction of the provider
  • Responsible for maintaining proper provider schedules and coordinating surgeries in accordance with provider templates.
  • Responsible for coordinating the surgeons’ OR schedule and aligning it with the ambulatory practice schedule to ensure there are no overlaps
  • Obtaining accurate procedure, demographic and insurance information from the patient
  • Accurately captures patient information including demographic, diagnosis, procedure, insurance and physician and maintains accurate information in the electronic medical records system (EPIC).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent; Associates preferred
  • 2-5 years Healthcare office experience. Medical terminology preferred. Prior surgical scheduling experience highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and telephone skills required, proficient in the use of computer systems and familiarity with electronic health records
  • Ability to deal with physician office staffs and ancillary department staffs and effectively handle multiple phone lines simultaneously
