The Opportunity

This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology. 

The Senior Scientist I will be responsible for designing and evaluating diagnostic reagents, i.e. test strips and/or implantable sensors.

What you’ll work on

  • Develop original designs for measurement devices.
  • Devise testing schemes to best characterize the effectiveness of designs and to further the development process.
  • Optimize design elements Chemistry Raw materials.
  • Compatibility with manufacturing processes Hardware interfaces.
  • Implement product development as a member of product development teams.
  • Establish product requirements.
  • Develop project plans.
  • Determine methods to verify and validate requirements.
  • Conduct and participate in design reviews Develop and validate analytical methods.
  • Hire and manage junior and senior staff.
  • Responsible for initiating, directing, and executing research efforts, research strategies, and product development efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-15 years in a relevant industrial or academic setting. The number of years experience necessary is related to the degree held (more for a bachelors degree, less for a Ph.D.) and the nature of the experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills Laboratory technique consistent with a skilled, experienced professional.
  • Capable of literature research and current in the appropriate literature of his/her field of expertise.
  • Able to present orally and in writing at a professional level.
  • Able to perform proficiently under up to date regulatory requirements.

The base pay for this position is

$92,800.00 – $185,600.00
