Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The HR Business Partner is responsible for talent management, development planning, diversity agenda, performance management, employee engagement & compensation for the Emerging Talent across US Capital Markets.

What will you do?

  • Work closely with regional and global leaders to help manage and support all employees in our various trainee program rotations and permanent placements by providing customized career support and guidance. In addition, ensure all administrative aspects are carried out (payroll, compensation, policies and procedures, etc.)
  • Assess current programs and find ways to enhance structure by bringing forward new ideas, communicating with key business stakeholders and approaches to improve the program year over year, ensuring global coordination and consistency, where appropriate
  • Monitoring emerging market trends and data to generate insights and knowledge to influence and support the business to successfully plan for short and long term workforce issues and succession requirements
  • Actively monitor and assess the quality and performance of graduates, as it relates to changing business needs and demands, and in line with the global measurement standards to drive a culture of high performance and superior individual and team results. Gather feedback as necessary and coach managers on providing performance reviews to trainees
  • Provide effective leadership and/or support for strategic HR projects and Initiatives for the Emerging Talent population as well as contributing to continuous process improvement to enhance employee and manager experience and/or adherence to all applicable legislation and policies
  • Where applicable, support Employee Relations issues in partnership with Senior HRBPs, Employee Relations and Legal to help guide the business in mitigating risk to RBC
  • In partnership with Learning and collaborating with the global HRBP team, Emerging Talent team and other COEs, assist with designing annual GIB, GM and QTS training program for Analysts and Associates, inclusive of providing support during their summer training and beyond for continuous education opportunities.
  • In conjunction with Compensation, provide compensation recommendations using sound knowledge of HR policies, standards and practices to support good governance and manage year end activities for AA population (summer and YE).
  • Manage mentorship, social, networking & volunteer events delivered within budget
  • Overall, provide coaching to graduates to achieve a culture of high performance and superior individual and team results to drive a competitive advantage for the business
  • Continuous talent approach including the talent review process; the identification of High Potential talent and, ensuring that talent has established goals and development plans as needed
  • Enhancing and building upon the employee experience, including assessing engagement scores or relevant pulse surveys to design and deliver fit for purpose action plans. Advising on promotions to Associate and VP and working with the HRBPs globally on all associated yearend processes.
  • Encourage involvement in recruiting & participation in Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
  • Provide leadership and direction in establishing performance management practices/processes for individual business units in line with business strategy and culture.

What you need to succeed:

  • Career experience in Human Resources Required:
  • Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree • A minimum of 5 years recent and relevant HR experience
  • Proven management skills Competencies:
  • Results oriented
  • Knowledge of Capital Markets and the wider financial services industry
  • Understanding of “Generation Y” and recent graduates or “Generation Z”
  • Strong relationship skills
  • Creative, and practical ability to deliver solutions for the business WORKING CONDITIONS (Legislative Requirement)

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $85,000 - $130,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
