GRM, Risk Analyst - Portfolio Risk Oversight Intern

Job Description

  • Leverage portfolio data to prepare clear, concise and insightful analysis on top/emerging risks and key trends within the BFS portfolio
  • Participate in analytics design sessions, providing input, gathering and documenting business requirements, and helping formulate an analytical framework to develop effective Risk Management reporting
  • Develop a subject matter expertise, in all manner of business and risk data mining activities (activities include, but are not limited to data analysis, aggregation, interpretation and recommendation)
  • Investigate new industry leading data tools and methods to be leveraged in data mining, analysis & visualization
  • Participate actively in the exchange of knowledge relating to products, data & analytical methodology 
  • Provide analytical support on Ad Hoc requests originating from various stakeholders

  • Must-have
  • Strong business and data acumen
  • Effective and equally conversant in translating technical expertise into business language that drive insights
  • SQL programming and experience; expertise with MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge and working experience with data management and visualization using tools such as SAS and Tableau
  • Strong data manipulation capability using financial formulas
  • Degree in quantitative field of study (e.g. Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science) – to demonstrate capability for critical thinking and data analysis
  • Nice-to-have
  • Experience in the Financial industry
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environment
  • Experience with data modeling and database administration
  • Expertise in navigating an Enterprise Data Warehouse, experience with Hadoop environments, Python, R or other tools

Job Summary

RBC GRM Portfolio Risk Oversight, BFS is hiring for a Risk Analyst. You will strive to create and deliver superior risk management insights through a range of effective methods that grow profitable business and drive prudent risk guidelines and policy, creating sustainable value for RBC shareholders. Using best-in-class data mining techniques, you will support data-driven business decisions for Group Risk Management by identifying, understanding, organizing, and presenting data trends.
